Huawei E5830 Mobile WiFi
« on: Apr 24, 2010, 11:07 »
Suffering from no landline internet this morning, so having to surf using the Huawei E5830 Mobile Wifi device. After a couple of weeks of using this device, i've come to the conclusion that it really is an excellent bit of kit. The pages load like normal and I can't really tell the difference. Obviously iPlayer and video are out of the question, but as an out and about service and for emergencies this really does come into it's own.

Very impressed!

Yes, it's handy that it comes with its own 'pre installed Driver' too...so no installing off a CD

I'm using the same model with 3G at a cottage between Lowick and Ford in Northumbria.  We are here on a weeks holiday and there is no mobile phone connection with Orange but this device is showing 1 bar.  Weak, but working OK.

I'm thinking of using similar on our next Australia visit as I've been using the phone line in the house, there, on Dial Up but it ties up the landline.  It's not worth subbing for Broadband out there as it is so expensive, with a minimum 1 years subscription. We only spend part of the year there.

Using iPhone in Berwick is very slow so bought a 3 stick for laptop. Getting 3 to 4 bars and a lot quicker

I'll be taking mine with me to York this week, just in case WiFi is not available in my hotel room.
