« on: Oct 13, 2011, 13:10 »
Just done latest software on iPhone. Bloody thing crashed now back to factory settings and last backup corrupted. Swearword swearword.
Exactly the same thing has happened when updating to iOS 5. I am officially pissed off

Have done Mac OSX and iTunes. Have turned off iCloud, as was on by default and timing out when trying to connect to the servers. I'll do the iPad next, then the phone last. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, tried the first step last night, upgrading iTunes to 10.5 from 10.0 (or 10.1 whatever it was) and it froze my PC during the install.

Tried again downloading first then installing at the PC froze during install again, left it overnight and it was still froze so rebooted and downloaded the full 10.5 this morning.
Will try uninstall the old version and install the new one tonight.

IPad now done. Everything went ok, except I was left with 23GB of 'Other' data. The sync hadn't deleted the temporary files from the music, leaving the iPad full. Another sync sorted it out. I haven't really had too much time to explore yet, but it looks pretty good.

I'll be doing the phone over the weekend. I think i'll unsync the music first, then upgrade and then put it back.

Managed to get iTunes installed but it has goosed my iphone.

It did a backup and sync then when going for the ios5 upgrade it put the phone into restore mode then says there is a data invalid problem with the Mobile Device USB drivers and it will not restore from the backup or upgrade it.

Looking at Apples support site it appears there are quite a few having the same problem with dead iphones.
Looks like I may have to try and see if it will work at work on Monday on the Win7 PC rather than the XP one here then see if it will sync properly back home again.

USB drivers sounds more like a PC problem than a iTunes one. Does your iPhone still show up in iTunes.
