Re-formating Your PC

My computer is doing my head in more and more. It's just too slow for words and it annoys me no end that I can't figure out how to make it fast again. Is it possible somehow to just delete everything on it and begin allover with an empty computer and if yes, how do I do that, please ? I have all the original discs so re-installing the programmes shouldn't be too much of a problem, I hope.

Am days away of having a rock'n'roll style fit and throw it out the window altogether !

Have you scanned for spyware and viruses. If so try doing a defragmentation on your hard disc and then see if it works faster.

Spyware or Malware is malicious software you pick up as you patrol the net

A really good scanner for removal (and its free)

As to formatting..that very much depends on whether you have a recovery partition OR the original disks with the Operating system on

Ah, cheers. Spyware sounds like a very bad invention. :cry:

I called a computer hotline and asked if there is a way to turn your pc back into being fast. He recommended that I should check out this website http://www.spamfighter.com/SLOW-PCfighter/ and follow their instructions on how to scan the pc for reasons that could cause it to run this slow. I did and after a full scan I was told there were 1,907 errors in total, which surprised me somewhat. I knew the computer was behaving in strange ways but that it was this bad made me look at the screen for a few seconds in disbelief. Anyway, I then took their advice and downloaded their cleaning up program but will wait till my good mate comes 'round on Monday to do the rest as I want to make sure I do it proper and not end up making things even worse. In the meantime I'll take your advice as well, mate, and have a look at the spyware scanner thingy, too. With a bit of luck come Monday I won't be able to recognise my pc. In good ways, of course :D

Download CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download   Allow it to delete all of your rubbish.  When you have done that go to the Registry Cleaner and let it check for and then delete all that it finds.

Most importantly it is a safe application and will not mess up your computer.  I do mine once a week.  It's rare these days that a re-installation is needed as there are lots of programs to bring your P.C back to good working order.

What Operating System are you using?  XP, Vista, Windows 7 or something even older?

Forget c cleaner download and run f cleaner cleans a lot more

Thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated. At this time tomorrow I should be back on track with a fully functional and fast pc again. My mate is hopeful he can fix it with the thingy I downloaded and if he's this optimistic so am I. Fingers crossed.
