Very slow BT Internet

I'm supposed to have an 8MB connection.

It's currently running at

Download 144 Kbps    Upload  44 Kbps

That is absolutely abysmal. I've rebooted my router, but the settings are pretty standard and haven't changed since it was installed.

Hmmmmm.  :evil:

Have you got one of those stupid Home Hubs?...I have loads of customers complained about them!...Phone BT..and tel them to replace, and stick Hub up their arses!

Actually the other way around. I was running Netgear, but they've obviously changed something beyond it's configuration. I installed the BT hub and the speed has gone back up, but it's still only 1MB max!

It happened a few weeks ago and they said it was a fault on my line, this time the lying bastards have said the same and they will send an engineer! I told em to stop pissing on my leg and tell me it's raining.

After a bit of configuration work, a channel change and a bit more under the bonnet Mac stuff, i've got a wireless connection now running at

3872 Kbps download and 227 Kbps upload

Still not really up to scratch, but better than it was an hour ago!

Once i'd got the Home Hub running, it seemed to settle down a bit. I had a problem with wireless connections being dropped, but that seemed to sort itself out when I went back to the default network name. It's faster this morning.

At first I suspected i'd been throttled back because i'd gone over my monthly bandwidth allocation (40GB), but I haven't had any warning, so presume that to not be the reason. Maybe it's due to some config changes they've made prior to Infinity being made active in Spring?

Just ran a speed test here using www.speedtest.net

Got the following figures back
Download - 37.47Mbps
Upload - 8.21Mbps

Now just waiting to get that sort of speed back at home.

Now the BT Home Hub has settled down, i'm getting 6,712 Kbps download and 365 Kbps upload over a wireless connection, so pretty much back to normal. If I cabled up i'd probably get another 1,000 Kbps out of it.
