I have just orderd it for ?24.99 at Play.com and am looking forward to having lots of sleepless nights (as if I don't already).

Picked it up just the other day ....... but put it down again because it's excusively an online effort and charges a monthly fee as well as the purchase price, and more importantly, I need to sleep.

Yeah I know there is a monthly fee, but I don't mind that as long as I get some enjoyment. But then again how much is the monthly fee?, it better not be something silly like ?30. I don't mind paying a tenner or under.

Did you get into the game mate? I've been playing for a couple of days now and am a Human Warrior called 'nefouk'. I've got to Level 6, with a base in Goldshires. If you play, let me know your id and i'll add it to my friends list. Have died 3 times so far, the last time I got jumped by a bear from behind when fighting another monster.
The monthly fee is about ?7.50
Any other World of Warcraft players about?

May well do soon. I am looking for a game to start so it may as well be this one.

Please do, it's absolutely brilliant! Ideal for you when you're up at 3am looking for something to fight.

my daughter was given a free 10 trial. she has sat on the pc most of today and got as far as level 7.
I'm not sure if she will still be as enthusiastic after 10days or if she will be bored by then, but its a nice introduction without any initail cost.

I'm still playing, but am waiting for a Games Master to contact me as my character has become stuck in a clump of trees and can't move. Oh yes, this is a doubly difficult situation, as I'm also dead.
I'm currently a ghost, trying to find my body to resurrect it, but can't really do much as the auto-unstick trick only works when you're still alive.

I know how you feel mate. The same thing happened to me in Project Entropia. I got stuck on a staircase and could not move. I just turned it off and never went back as I had only played for about 20 minutes. That was enough to put me off ever playing again.

After a long absence, i've started playing again. My character is now at Level 35, still a long way to go, but a mate has just signed up and he seems as though he's keen to spend some time at it, so I could help him out. It looks like I might need to move my character over though, as he's on a different server.
There are so many different facets to this game that it can keep you active for hundreds of hours. It's educational because you have to work out best routes and levelling requires concentration and planning. It also promotes team work to solve quests and players can form Guilds to tackle the more complicated tasks.

I recently quit playing, best move I ever made. I wouldn't advise anyone to start playing this game, it takes up far to much time and is extremely repetitive in end-game content. I had 3 80's and a whole load of alts, which when I added up time played over 2-3 years came to around 190 days...... I quit at that point and realised why I hadn't done as well at uni as I could of.

I'm not playing now either. Did you move on to any other games or what? EVE online looks good, but it'll probably eat even more time than WOW.

Well I've tried EVE, couldn't really get the hang of it and certainly didn't seem fun. I've kind of gone off MMO's, tried about 6-7 and they all take an eternity to level up and then have very repetitive end game. I moved onto FPS games a while ago, used to play team fortress 2 in a clan but then got back into wow, now I've quit I'm playing bad company 2 with some friends.
Depends what your looking for in a game really though, if your after PvE then wow is the best I suppose, If your after PvP wow can be quite decent, but warhammer is another good choice and more suited to casual players. Age of conan wasn't too bad, didn't get to end game with it as levelling took ages but the combo system of fighting worked quite well. Darkfall is for the very hardcore pvp'ers as players are lootable and it's totally open and therefore has an interesting political meta game going on between players. Beyond that there are none that I can think are worth mentioning really. All take up plenty of time though so I wouldn't bother with an MMO again.
