CHAPMAN - Cotherstone - Headlam - Alwent
« on: May 27, 2004, 20:46 »
John CHAPMAN operated a Teaching Academy in Headlam Hall, near Gainford from 1804 to 1828+   John married Mary ROBINSON 1795; they had 6 children, of whom William became a Doctor in 1823, and emigrated to New Zealand in 1851 - my g.g.grandfather.
John bought Alwent Hall/Farm/Mill in 1837.
I would be very interested in any history of the above.
