PROCEDURES at the North-East child benefit office that lost CDs containing the personal records of 25 million people were "woefully inadequate", an inquiry has revealed.

Why am I not surprised at this.  Maybe we should employ a trained chimp, would probably do a lot better.

And who will be heavily involved in running any proposed ID card scheme? That's right folks, the same infrastructure will look after that too, with the same 'get by' attitude no doubt. It's a shambles alright.

The biggest government IT project still running is the National Health one, but that has stalled because Hewlett Packard have pulled out and no other contractors are interested in taking it on. Once again, a shambles.
