Everyone is welcome, trace your mining past using our miner's bonds, houghton workhouse lists etc.

My ancestors having worked in the Durham coal fields from the 1800's, so you could say, I have an interest. To read and research our mining past certainly opens one's eyes to the injustice our forefathers suffered,

Glad to see you are in to your mining history :)

I love history. Part of my heritage is well over a century of miners on both sides of the family. I find it?s nice to know where/what you come from. It can help in the understanding of yourself.

While I do mourn the annihilation of the mining industry in the North East and England for that matter, I?m pretty pleased that my generation didn?t feel pressured to "gan doon the pit". With the choice of being a miner simply not been available we had to look elsewhere to earn a living.

Hi Russell, welcome to the North East Forum. I don't think you can do anything. It's the server software on the mymarras site telling you that it's not accepting any visitors at the moment. This could be for a variety of reasons, from maintenance to a crash, to a software error or maybe a bandwidth problem. We'll just have to wait to see if it comes back up.
