I think these lot at the Parish Council would give them a run for their money
Good job, the County Council had more common sense.

What amuses me is that people are amazed that someone can think like that when they are councillors.
Read the minutes of your local councils and you will be amazed and astounded that these people are in control of part of your life.
Our Parish minutes are in our local library and when and if they are updated I can spend a most enjoyable few minutes reading these utopian ideas and then I remember they are in charge of a lot of our Council Tax and that sobers me completely.
Not all Councillors are idiots BUT.......

We have a few wanabees on our Town Council - one particular individual should be strung up by his bootlaces and whipped with his own leeks. A more loathsome individual you couldn't wish to meet. He is a complete dinosaur. What's more worrying is how he got 400-odd people to vote for him in the first place.

Big family?

Maybe. You might remember him from the Courtaulds closure era?

I was still around then, but don't remember anyone in particular causing problems. That might just be poor memory on my part. Killed off a few too many brain cells.

1979. The year I started work.

I was only three then :-)

Back to topic though, on the face of it, some of the comments that they made do kind of make sense to me, so not as crazy as it seems.  I can certainly understand their logic.  However, the shortsightedness involved is alarming, especially in this litigious day and age.

Just adding another thought here; what is the difference between pot-holes in the goround, and speed humps on the top of the road?  At the end of the day, you will either slow for them or not.  Albeit humps have pain on them to make them visible, but other than that, is there much difference?

There'll be a few in Ferryhill who do!

Sorry, back on topic.
