Body of Lies / Australia
« on: Apr 08, 2009, 14:52 »
I watched [amazondvd]Body of Lies[/amazondvd] on DVD the other day. Anyone seen it ? It left me wondering just how much of it was fiction and how much of it is actually based on facts. Not the storyline as such but the gadgets the CIA used throghout. Are there really satellites way above our heads so clever they can zoom in on the smallest of things here on Earth and even follow individual people ?

The flick was OK, I guess, though very violent at times. It was good, though, to finally see a movie with DiCaprio where he doesn't end up dead for a change.

I also watched [amazondvd]Australia[/amazondvd] the same night. As much as I love Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman that's three hours of my life I'll never get back...

Cherry, if youre not going to watch body of lies feelf ree to pop it in for me  :-) sounds like it might be something I would enjoy, gadgets, CIA and course DiCaprio (drool drool).

As for Australia, just seeing the trailer has kind of made me wonder whether or not it is worth seeing.

Didn't mean to spill the beans on Body of Lies, pumpkin, it's not a bad flick at all but all the satelitte stuff following terrorists and zooming in on people at market places was a bit unsettling for me. If all the CCTV cams are considered "Big Brother's watching you" then what would describe satellites watching us like that following our every move ? At least we know the CCTV are there. I know it's just Hollywood but still.

I hope I haven't put you off completely from giving Australia a go. It's very beautifully filmed but just way too long for me, I'm afraid. If you do watch it sometime have a think about the warning for the Aboriginals shown before the film begins. That made me wonder as well.

If you can wait just under three more weeks, pumpkin, I'll be bringing with me a case of flicks with both of them in. I'm always up for a night of flicks. Will pop you the full list later on so you know what I'll be bringing with me
