Burglary alert, Newton Aycliffe
« on: Feb 28, 2013, 13:50 »
My mate has just been burgled. It's in the Aycliffe area. Notable items taken are 2 laptops, 2 iPods, iPad, leather holdall, several watches, including 2 Armani and a Cartier Tank. If anyone is offered anything similar at a cheap price, please contact the police and let me know.

A drug habit to feed is more likely. The Cartier watch will be unusual in Aycliffe, so anyone being offered one should get in touch with police immediately. The man who has lost it is actually a drugs counsellor ;-)

Did they catch them or are they still on the loose ?

And out of interest is burglary a big problem in Aycliffe ? Compared to other parts of the NE ?

The last time I was there many moons ago now the place seemed a bit quiet, borderline dull if I may be frank, and I wouldn't have thought the area would have too much interest from burglars and the like ?

They caught the guy who did it, but I don't think they got any of their stuff back, but I think the insurance company coughed up, so it was ok. Not sure if the problem of burglary is any higher in Aycliffe or not, but there's a young offenders place close by and a few 'half way houses', so maybe a little higher?
