Is the premier league heading for a fall ?

I ask this question because a few years ago Serie A was the richest league and now its seen a big decline in its fortunes.
Could this happen to the premier league here ?
Have the players and clubs become too greedy and I wonder if a section of the public will say enough is enough and turn their backs on the game particularly with the economic slowdown begining to bite.
