Laser eye surgery

Anyone got personal experience of laser eye surgery to correct shortsightedness?  I keep thinking how great it would be if I didn't need lenses or specs..... then the fear gets to me!

I had mine done a long time ago and it worked out really well. Because our health insurance at work covered the cost a lot of people had it done and a few had to go back for corrections, but no further problems. I believe they tend to under correct so that they can adjust later. The actual surgery is totally painless but its a little unnerving when you can smell buning. If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

That sounds very positive- apart from the burning flesh aspect

Perhaps I'll just have to go for an initial consultation.

my friends daughter is in her early twenties and had hers done about 6 months ago.

The down side was the actual price being about 5 times that of the advert, but a day after the procedure her eye sight was such that she was able to drive the car without glasses. Prior to the op she couldn't see the car never mind the registration.

They wouldn't operate on her brother as his eyesight was already very poor in one eye ( too bad for treatment), and their insurance didn't cover if he went blind due to an error on his one good eye.

I like the idea of being able to drive without glasses.... The cost being so much more than the ads suggest is bad news though....

Nevertheless, I think I'll get on the phone and make that appointment.

Thanks for the input!

I'd love to have it done, the main thing for me is my eyesight is so poor, that reading all the info, I'd not be able to get the actual laser surgery, the only option would be to get a permanenet lens put into my eye.  I do sometimes think I should make an appointment to check it out though

Keep us posted  as to how you get on

Thought about having this. Don't want to risk blindness.
