Making Money From Web Sites
« on: Jun 19, 2006, 21:02 »
I've created a quick and simple little site that gives people a low down on how to make money from their web site:

http://www.moneytise.co.uk

At the moment it's just a one page site with all the necessary info on who to sign up to, along with a little info on how to get a web site up and running. Over the next few weeks I'm hoping to expand it further including more tips and tricks on how to get your site found, and how to encourage people to follow your adverts.

Anyone running a web site, and looking to make it cover its own running costs, may be interested.

To be honest, I've probably put this completely in the wrong place. Should be in Tips, sites and software...d'oh! Feel free to move it.

Very good advice there jetster. I've had experience with the pay-per-click ones, Google's being the biggest and most popular. The Yahoo one is only available to USA publishers at the moment, but eBay have just announced they will be entering the contextual ads market in the near future, so I look forward to seeing that.

To make good money from contextualised ads you need either a very high traffic site, a high paying niche subject or both. If you get to $100 per month using this you are doing very well. They have stringent conditions though, and under no circumstances are you allowed to click your own ads, or encourage others to do so. If anyone wants any tips, i'll be happy to provide them by PM.

I used to make $116 per month with Adsense with 1 of my sites but I sold that and ploughed money into other projects and I still make ?30 per month with Sedo.  People used to pay ?6 per month to advertise on the site and they would make about $20 from advertising on the site.

$116 is pretty good going for one single site.? I've got three sites that earn quite well, with another two just introduced and starting to show traffic/clicks. It's easy to make $20-30 with a site in a month with adsense, all you need to do then is open another 10 using the same formula and you should make some decent pocket money.?

But wouldn't this mean completely covering your site with banners ? I wouldn't turn down making money but if I have to put up all sorts of annoying banners taking away the focus from my work and compromising my work then I'd rather not.

You're born alone, you die alone.  Anything in between is make believe.

You're right alex, banners tend to get ignored, and can't easily be incorporated in the design of sites. Adsense ads can be blended into the flow/colour of text so that they look like a natural part of the site, BUT unfortunately in your case it would be against their TOS to include Adsense code on a site with your subject matter.

I've linked you on my new 666keywords.com website though.? 8)

I've been discussing adsense quite recently here : http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12712

Actually I had no banners on the site and it was purely search, I was passed as a loan affiliate where only 100 people get accepted but my site was hacked and they dropped me otherwise I would have been making ?80 gauranteed without bonuses.
