Mayflower Chinese/Fish and Chips, Belmont
« on: Aug 20, 2008, 10:09 »
I'd like to recommend the Mayflower in Belmont.  They only opened up a few months ago but wow, what a crackin place.

Located in Cheveley Park shopping precinct (just off Broomside Lane) they open lunchtimes (I think it's about 11am - 2pm) and evenings from 4pm (all except Sunday), and they serve fish and chips and chinese food.  Free parking right outside and they do local delivery - but if you're not local, it's worth popping in if you're in the area.

The food is very very reasonably priced and the portions are huge.  I love the quarter aromatic duck, a large portion with pancakes, sauce and veggies, for £6.50, hubby enjoys the mixed grill, also £6.50 which has mountains of proper chip shop chips, pot of gravy, sausage, steak, and other bits and bobs (I forget but there is a plate full), and the chefs special of chicken and king prawns with cashew nuts (I think that's about £5.50 or so) which is packed with meat.  They are lovely friendly people and generous with the free prawn crackers too.

The place is starting to get busy which is great news for them, and as I say, the food is delicious
