Spennymoor Co-op under review

Apparently the Co-op is one of five in the region that is under review with several possible options being considered including selling off or closure.

Well considering Spenny is one of the hot spots in the country then this would make the perfect land for upper class housing, maybe ?400,000 for a 4 bedroom semi?

NOT!!!

I did hear that they are closing this store.

And Shildon store too.

At least Spennymoor has other supermarket to visit, whereas the choice at Shildon is more limited!

We only have the Co-op in Shildon but it's never very busy as it's just so expensive and of course there's Morrisons and Asda at Bishop Auckland and Tesco at Newton Aycliffe, all just ten minutes away in the car.? Not to mention Aldi opening at Tindale Crescent in a few weeks time. There was a rumour that Netto were interested, and one that Indians had been looking over the place? and yet another that it was going to be pulled down for housing to be built.

Hiya Barb, there is also a Lidel store opening at Tindale. Where Elliots Motors used to be. I don't know when they open but it is said before Christmas. We also heard that Netto were taking over the old Aldi store in the town. So we are going to be spoilt for choice. Stay happy, Sandie.  :D

If we ever run out of anything @ Christmas time, we pop in there when ASDA is chocka-block.
