TGI Friday's - Gateshead - Review
« on: Sep 10, 2006, 10:11 »
Mrs Bloggs and I accompanied by junior Bloggs went to TGI's Saturday (9th sept) for a Birthday Treat.

TGI's is a chain of themed American type bar / restaurants that we are partial to. More of a drink then eat type place, than a drinking establishment though. In the centre is a square shaped bar where you can have  drink and a chat. The restaurant occupies the rest of the area. Memorobilia adores the walls. This is not the cheapest place to eat but is nice for a treat. It also does lunch time menu's that help with the pennies and they sometimes have vouchers for two for one etc.,

Junior Bloggs had a hot dog, fries, sweetcorn and carrot and cucumber sticks (?3.50) with a banana milkshake (?1.75). The hot dog went down well with the carrot and cucumber sticks.

Mrs Bloggs had a Cajun ckicken sandwich with fries followed by the Vanilla cheesecake (?9.99 all in) which did'nt touch the sides which is always a good sign I think, (OK Junior bloggs helped with the cheesecake).

I had the Cajun Chicken Penne pasta. Great, a little bit spicy with peppers etc and the chicken sliced and placed on top of the pasta (?9.25). We all shared a side order of onion rings at ?2.45, which were great. They were the "real" ones made from rings of onion in a slightly spicy batter and there was plenty to share.

Two diet pepsi's (we are on a diet you know ) were ?1.75 each with free refills and I finished with an expresso at ?1.65.

Overall ?31.54 all in

The only criticism I had was the expresso was not so good, rest of the meal was great, served quickly, tasty and no fuss. We all left happy. Would recommend. 8/10

Did you know that the Newcastle branch is the only one in the world that don't wear the recognised trademark shirts? The staff refused to wear Red n White stripes!

I get free vouchers emailed every month. Fill in your details on the website below as some of the offers are very good -? if you enjoy TGI's then you'll like it better if it is 1/2 price

http://www.tgifridays.co.uk/home.phtml

If you print out multiple vouchers at home then press the refresh button between printing each voucher - this generates each with its own number, as the staff check that you're not using photo copies and that each voucher is unique.

We went For the birthday celebration a couple of months ago and obout half the people around the table had a free meal.
