The North East - Hotbed of Football, or laughing stock?

What has happened to the North East’s proud football tradition?

Theres not one of our professional teams can say they've had even an adequate season, its all a bit pathetic.
And why the hell Darlo felt the need to build such a huge stadium (for the league they are in) is beyond me.
At least Gateshead  FC  and Whitley Bay have had good seasons :o

Darlo didn't, George Reynolds is solely responsible.

Its a real shame that they built this white elephant, if they had built a smaller more manageable stadium it could have been a real asset for them.

George Reynolds had a dream of making full use stadium for other events, and concerts etc, but the Darlo Council blocked his ideas to open it up to other uses than football.
He may have been a bit out of touch, but his heart seemed to be in the right place.  Darlo Council stuffed it up as so many Councils do. It was built away from residential property so where was the problem?

Reynolds obviously didn't do his homework then.
No good whingeing after the event.
