TXTS

Solsunftmtoo managed to send almost that many without trying when I was paying for his phone.

But on a more serious not do you think txting 2 much is whats causing our young people problems when having to write normally.  I have seen application forms for jobs written in txt speak as well as the odd post on here.

I use predictive text when sending a text, which, for those of you that don't know, uses the combination of letter to form the most likely word.  It is quick, in full and makes sense.  Most of the time.  BUt you have to pay attention to the suggested words.  I once sent my Mum a message saying "I will be home soon with Aids", not sure what I was actually trying to say, but there you go.

You have me sitting here with my phone trying to work out what you meant
One thing I noticed was the same combination of buttons produces both pints and shots  I noticed this when txting my order to who ever was at the bar at that time

I sometimes get texts from my younger friends, and even some older ones, where they use "text speak", sometimes I struggle to understand what the heck they are on about.  I can understand using a shorthand version of English in a text, but I do wonder, if indeed the level of English is dropping.

I don't know if the young do this because they want to look hip or because they are lazy or maybe they are in a rush or even a combination of the three but I really do believe in the importance of learning to read and spell and that the use of text speak does more harm than good.

Now where did I put my slippers ?
