Northern Rock Mortgage
« on: Aug 04, 2008, 15:18 »
Does anyone have their Mortgage with the Northern Rock and are you being pestered by   them to change your mortgage?, i have been with them for over 28 years with Mortgage and savings, i have 10 year to go with my mortgage which is a very small amount. The Rock are always phoning me to ask when i am going to move my mortgage to another lender,i know that their  rate is above what it should be, but when i have checked other lenders out for the next 10 years my payments double and the actual cost more than doubles.
If they phone me one more time to ask belive me i wont be happy

I have a mortgage with the Northern Rock also. We have had the mortgage for 3 years now and our fixed rate runs out next month. We are going to have to pay an extra £100 per month as we cannot find a better deal. However we have received no phone calls and only one letter.

News reports are saying that since the Government took over Northern Rock they have lost a further half billion pounds.

Nuff said.  Running a brewery comes to mind.

Yes it's a stupid bank, they have given people 125% mortgages then when they come out of fixed rate nobody wants to take them on, what really gets me with the phone calls is the fact that i only have a 30 grand mortgage and they want me to move to someone else which will put another 4- 5  grand on it with interest.

Well I know it's speak as you find but I have had my mortgage with NR for 10 years with 10 still to run last year they offered to review it, never done it before as it is only a small repayment, they managed to squeeze £10 a month off and into the bargain gave me £720 to move it of which they took £250 for fees leaving me with the remainder to do as I pleased.  Ended up with 3 months mortgage paid and fixed for 5 years.  I must one of the lucky ones in this sad affair.

Thats after taking into account paying back more of the Government loan than was expected.

The RBS has just announced losses of £691M and they have not had to repay a big government loan.

Yes, most of that figure is the cost of restructuring/repaying the debt and therefore is not additional loss.

I had a mortgage with Northern Rock

I got into a little bit of difficulty with repayments when my Wife was pregnant...Missed two payments, paid the third and all following payments...but the bastards hounded me and threatened to reposses the flat..... I moved mortgages as quick as I could....best thing I ever did.

I hate the Northern Rock...and was gleeful at the thought of their demise!...I felt sorry for people like Victoria...But not them!

Just hope you dont get into difficulty with your repayments...even for 1 or 2 months!....Some other Mortgage lenders are more sympathetic...but not those
bastards

I see Northern Rock has been given longer to pay back its £26bn loan as part of government efforts to boost lending and the economy. Pity they didn't show the same kind of leniency against others.
