This topic is currently something of a hot potatoe with the Local Government Association calling for a £250m-a-year fund to help regions struggling to cope with unexpected influxes of migrants and news that more than half of new jobs go to migrants.  The Government has also been embarrassed after it emerged 300,000 migrant workers were missed out of official figures.

What on earth is going on?

Anyone have any comments?

I work for an engineering fabricator and we now have a large percentage of Polish workers.

We still have job vacancies and can't find skilled workers from within the UK - do we have a choice but pull in labour from the Eastern European countries?

I remember a few years ago when my son first attended a nursery. The nursery sent a letter out saying they would not be holding a children's Christmas Nativity Play, as they had been told that they could only have one if they agreed to celebrate other faiths big holidays.

For Christ's sake this or rather was a Christian country.

Why are we letting these people change our lives. There are far to many immigrants being allowed into this country. I think that they should all be returned from where they came.

If moving to another country people should embrace that country's ways and beliefs or not go at all.

Is this immigration problem something which should have been foreseen years ago?

After all the Government are giving many more benefits away nowadays.  Is it any wonder people from other countries want to come here for their share of the free money?

One thing which hasn't really been touched upon...  I understand that Rumania has a big problem with HIV/Aids.  By opening our borders are we setting off a potential HIV time bomb?

I think this really sums it all up. Pity we can't write it in letters
three miles high and project it into the sky over every city in ENGLAND!

Whilst it still is England.

After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by
putting up Xmas lights, so DIDN'T!

After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a
Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face covered.

After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that
for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham,
West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others!

This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen.

Published in a British tabloid newspaper.

IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT.

Take It Or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the "politically
correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism
is offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is
seeking a better life by coming to Britain. However, there are a few
things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently
some born here, need to understand.

This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served
only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.

As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language
and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries
of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men
and
women who laid down their lives and one of the millions of men and women
who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian,

or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society,

learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto.

This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.

We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian
principles,
founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly
appropriate
to display it on the walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world
as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St. George's cross
offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously
consider
a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR
LAND,
and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all
this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our
Pledge,
Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take
advantage of
one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

If you aren't happy here then P*** OFF! We didn't force you to come here.

You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.

Copied from another forum but thats basically my opinion on the subject

I think it is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the UK is becoming a muslim state.
We are drip fed s***e by the Media, who love to sensationalise everything from The Red Arrows being banned from the Olympics, to Bacon causing Cancer.
Anonymous quoted the Daily Mail.
There is never a word of Truth written in that Rag... Nor The Sun...Nor, the vast majority of the Papers (and now sadly...even the TV News is full of Tosspots, trying to further their careers by jumping on every single little piece of Paranoia possesed by us Brits, and blowing it out of any and all proportion!

We are an Island...And we are made to feel that our land is full to overflowing.
C'mon you Northumbrians!...We have the Largest County in Britain...With the smallest Population!...No one is going to be speaking Kurdish anytime soon!
7/8ths of Scotland is uninhabited...That's where I will move to, when Northumberland gets full to the Brim with terrorists!

I saw a Black fella Bringing his kid to School the other day.
He is the only one!...And from Nigeria (an immigrant)... Not exactly flooding in eh?

Always makes me have a quiet chuckle when I hear "These Bloody Immigrants are taking our Jobs"
Yes, they are...Cos we are too bloody lazy, or too interested in sitting around on Invalidity/Sick/unemployment Benefit, to do what is Dirty work.
The Poles who come to work here, have a superb work ethic!.. They work hard, and dont go on Strike! (perhaps Royal Mail should try employing a few more?)

I cannot remember the last time I bought a Newspaper (probably when I last ate Fish and Chips) because I see them in the same way as I would someone standing in front of me, and Lying to my face.
If you want an end to this Politicaly Correct bulls**t.... Make sure you Vote 'New Labour' OUT at the next Election would be my advice.

Talk about errosion of Civil Liberty!

So would you say that the Welfare State has created our once industrious workforce into a lazy fat monster who have lost the incentive to better themselves because they get everything far too easily through the benefit system?  Is the failing of the UK education system the reason why Victoria Sponges company cannot find enough skilled workers and has to employ people from Poland?

One of the things which I find fascinating is that the Labour policies seem to be responsible for their own downfall.  They want to give more money to the poor through benefits but instead of helping the situation, they are making it worse because people are financially better off if they don't have a job.  It's crazy.  They are incentivising the nation to stop at home and watch daytime TV and the Poles have to come here to fill the gap.

true - but have you been around the west road area on newcastle..? - I used to live there in the 70's (when I was a kid) and no there is hardly any white people there - even when I was walking home back in 98' when I was at Uni - to Wingrove road (live at the bottom beside fenham hall drive) and was walking along nuns moor road (behind the hospital) - there was about 10 asian guys there and one of them shouted at me asking if I wanted a lift in their car - I said no - then one shouted at me to get in the car - I was so angry but I knew I wasn't able to do anythingat that point, I just wanted to get the lads together and sortt them out... and it's even worse now...

It is because towns have been allowed to be ghetto-ised that this is the problem. How do you solve it? I don't know, but being scared that someone will play the race card should not prevent the establishment rooting out the toe rags involved. If they hide behind their religion/race, then they are guilty of racism themselves. They'll use it as a weapon when it suits, then hide behind it when challenged. It's got to be sorted out, otherwise Enoch Powell's words will become ever closer to reality.

Hello m8

No, but what I would say is that we have the manpower in this country, but the attitude is still wrong in many cases.
I dont believe the education system is failing either...I just think that things are a wee bit cushy in the UK.
Polish lads who come here, have (I assume) had to grow up in (what I expect) is an education system no better than ours...And probably worse.
Back in the 70's we 'invited' loads of West Indian people in, to drive Buses and empty Trash cans, and work on the London Underground....Alledgedly we had a skill shortage of Brits to empty ****ty bins all day?

Seems to me, that we have to bring in Poles now..cos we have too few skilled workers in this country.
Too many people going to University to study really stupid subjects, that are of no use to society...and those that train as Engineers/Surgeons go abroad to earn proper money.

I would much rather a Polish Plumber came immediatly to fix my Burst Pipe, than to wait for some English one to come Thursday week (provided he was'nt too hung over!)

I probably sound a bit harsh on us Brits...But we have no-one to blame but ourselves :|
