Cycle maintenance
« on: Sep 21, 2010, 09:31 »
Last night I did some maintenance on the bike, oiled the bits that needed oiling, inflating the tires, tightening the brake cables. Only I tightened the back brake cable too much, and it jumped out of it's caliper on Chilton By-pass. I heard it ping, and sure enough when I grabbed the back brake lever it was soft and floppy. Emergency adjustments at the side of the road were required, but at least I was on the cycle path. Late for work though.

Closely followed by a bad rear wheel puncture yesterday.

Need a new inner tube and investigate new tyres. Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB have been recommended. They're marketed as puncture resistant. Going to the bike shop this morning.
