Will be watching his party lose in the already disapointingly small Sedgefield Turn out?

I voted this morning. :-| I didn't vote for KarlC's party :-) They finished 4th in a low turn out (less than 40%) and sportingly slow-handclapped winner Phil Wilson's victory speech.

Phil Wilson (Lab) 12,528 (44.77%, -14.11%)
Greg Stone (LD) 5,572 (19.91%, +8.02%)
Graham Robb (C) 4,082 (14.59%, +0.19%)
Andrew Spence (BNP) 2,494 (8.91%)
Paul Gittins (Ind) 1,885 (6.74%)
Toby Horton (UKIP) 536 (1.92%, +0.36%)
Chris Haine (Green) 348 (1.24%)
Stephen Gash (Eng Dem) 177 (0.63%)
Tim Grainger (Ch P) 177 (0.63%)
Alan "Howling Laud" Hope (Loony) 147 (0.53%, +0.15%)
Norman Scarth (Anti-Crime) 34 (0.12%)
Lab majority 6,956 (24.86%)
11.06% swing Lab to Lib Dems

The story of the two by-elections is that Labour won both Sedgefield and Ealing, albeit with reduced majorities because of lower turnouts associated with by-elections.
The Liberal Democrats did well to finish a very creditable second in both seats.
But the Tories ? oh dear!
To wind up in a poor third in both seats is an appalling result for them, after all the main opposition party should be winning by-elections.
And they are now trailing in the opinion polls as well.
It seems that the British public have quickly seen through David Cameron for the lightweight opportunist that he is.

Also shows that the Greens are not a party to be taken seriously....But I am 'slightly' concerned that the BNP came above the Monster Raving Loony Party (but perhaps there was a switch at the last minute?)

Did our "friend" lose his deposit? It would be a shame.

Seems like much of the percentage that Labour lost was taken up by the Lib Dems and the BNP. I suppose nearly 2,500 votes for Andrew Spence out of 28,000 cast is a respectable performance, but they put a lot of effort in, they were all over the region last weekend - in pubs, driving about in cars with election posters, pinning banners to lamp-posts, etc. They were definitely the most hard working campaigners of all the parties involved. But at the end of the day, they still lost.

Almost certain that we will not be hearing from KarlC anymore, now that his party has been trounced and there is no more election, he has no need to be here any more.  Thank christ.
