we have a scrap man that comes round every few days ringing his bell ( and thats not a euphomism either lol) waiting for him to collect my deceased ironing board x

yeah, they go in the back lanes of darlington too - with some scrote looking over the walls (stands on the van) to see if there's anything worth taking too...!!

We don't get rag and bone men as such.  We do get scrap merchants who come like migrating birds.  For a week or two they come round, two or three a day, almost every day.  Then they disappear.  Currently we are in a "disappeared" phase, but no doubt they will return.

always amazes me the amount of scrap men they are. If I'm taking any 'metal', (radiators etc)
 out of a house I know it will be gone in a day. Seen as many as 6 in a morning around Sedgefield.

There are 2 or 3 lots who come round here each week. Yesterday one wagon had just left at one end of the street when another came round. One lot is made up of a few 20 year old lads who were known burglers. Guess this is a bit easier for them.
