You only hear of people who win on their one bet a year. Anybody else as bad as I am, even the year I backed Red Rum it was the year it came 2nd!

On getting my first pay packet of £2-50 for 48hours in the steelworks 1956, my mam gave me 5 shillings [25 pence]pocket money . The men I was working with were all experts at picking winners so I put the whole lot on a "certain winner"...............57 years later and I've never backed a horse since. Wonder how much money that horse saved me by losing.

when I was 17, my two mates won over a thousand pounds each at the bookies, (about  1975) where as I could not win an argument. I stopped betting, but not only did they lose all that money in a week they are still betting.
