Bit slow on posting this I guess, but who do you think will win the World Cup?

Holland.

Our opening game on Monday (12.30pm kick-off !) is against them and with the current state of my national team I fear the worst. If we don't lose too massively I reckon a draw against Cameroun and a win over Japan might just see us through to the knock-out stages. But Holland in my eyes is the side to look out for this year.

I have Denmark getting through the opening group stages (beating Cameroon and Japan), but then losing to Italy. I've taken Spain to beat Brazil in the final.

Its Brazil for me. Can't see a European team winning it this year.

It's only our fourth time at a World Cup and the previous three times we've reached the knock-out stages so here's hoping, eh. I'd like us to beat Cameroun as well but I know very little about the team and if they've already beaten Japan in their first game they will be up for repeating it against us am sure. I don't expect us to get anything against Holland but Japan is the weakest side in our group so pretty much everything could hang on our last group game against them. May come down to who beats them with most goals, Cameroun or us. If you're right, though, and we reach the knock-out stages again and end up playing Italy am OK with that. We seem to have a good grip on the Italians and I'm more confident in beating them than us beating Holland.

The only way my country can play you guys is if we both reach the Final itself. As much as I'd love that I can't see it happening but it's a very charming thought.

Funny you should pick the gilder crew, dark horses indeed. Spain have had the run of form coming into this world cup winning 45 out of 48 previous matches (I Think) but it must be their turn to loose a match or two.

England to beat Spain in the final.

The first game was always going to be the toughest as far as i was concerned. England and USA should qualify from the group from here.

shouldn't go on that performance though. 1 st game of a world cup is often like that, a bit like a final..

We'll see how they react from here... England will have two stars on their shirt in a month

The opening games of each country are often close. Each country produces maximum effort and that often stifles the footballing performance. Remember, when we won it in 1966 the first game was a boring 0-0 draw against Uruguay which the press castigated Ramsey and the team the for.

That was our maximum effort, then we really screwed.
If by any chance we do win I hope they don't give anything to Green to hold.

Sky News is reporting flash floods in central Scotland ..

Experts believe that it was caused by 5 million Scottish football fans
peeing themselves at the antics of the England goalkeeper....

I wonder if Green is going to be made the scapegoat for in-ger-lands inevitable failure. We always need at least one.
We can't just admit that so many teams from around the world are much better technically, tactically and in terms of skill than we are.
One fortunate win in 1966 (at home) and some people think we have a divine right to win the tournament every 4 years.
I was listening to the Danny Baker show on radio 5 at the weekend and he said how surprised at how the international sporting media didn't really take in-ger-land very seriously compared to the genuine big hitters in world football.
Perhaps a lesson in humility and the realisation that we just aren't that important anymore wouldn't go amiss ?

Talk to any real football fan, and they'll tell you we won't win it. Everybody knows there are better teams in the World than us. Who you've been talking to, I don't know. That's if you've actually been talking to anyone. No-one believes they have a divine right to win at all ! That's rubbish.

If everyone thought as you do, what would be the point in turning up? This current England team is probably in the top 8 in the World. When they play their best, they're probably top 4. Remember, anyone can beat anyone else over the course of 90 minutes, you just have to believe it.

I'm glad you aren't the coach!

just my opinion..I think this is the best England team we've put up in quite a while...but perhaps not good enough to win, certainly able to put the wind up the top teams
