Asiana Fusion - Sunderland
« on: Apr 16, 2012, 10:12 »
Called in here after the match on Saturday. Asiana Fusion is in the base of the new apartment block that has been built next to the Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland. It faces the river, and has superb views across to the North and East.

We turned up on spec at 5:45 (they didn't 'open' till 6), but we were still welcomed in and shown to a window table with no fuss. All the waiters are very friendly and attentive, with big smiles, looking as though they enjoy working there.

The menu is very extensive, bringing together Chinese and Thai cooking (even a bit of English if you want it). We opted for traditional Crispy Duck to start, the waiter shredded the duck at the table for us. Main courses for us were Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onions, and Chicken strips with Peppers and Onions in a Garlic and Chilli Oil, accompanied by Egg Fried Rice. Finished it all off with a Mango Sorbet and Black Cherry Sauce.

Not cheap (£50 for two including drinks) and definitely not one for those who like mountains of food, but the quality was superb and we would definitely go back.
