Bobby Shafto's SPENNYMOOR
« on: Feb 01, 2009, 16:08 »
Hi all,

Had to take the bairn to a party held as Shaftos,  and it was only going to be a couple of hours,  so instead of a drop and go and return later to collect, me and the better 'alf decided to have a few scoops and try out the food as the last time we where there at a wedding  we where asked if we had enjoyed our meal and we had not even been served ..

OK...   it ain't cheap !!   If you think I was happy paying for a child's small slush puppy at £1.50  ....  would been cheaper giving her lager (shes only 5 )

Anyway the menu is to match too

Me a meat eater  really like steaks and stuff and normally go for a mixed grill....    sadly  £16  just pushes the envelope of reality for me especially at a dinner time

Anyway... as nothing much really takes our fancy...  hot beef baguettes and sausage baguettes for us .. still at a fiver a pop !!

Service was brisk and   yes I will admit...   a very fair portion and hot and fresh ...

Meat was excellent and so was the sausage and chips where brill,  sadly the sausage could have had more gravy on for me but it was OK

I did remark on  what do you think you would get for a mixed grill !!  as the meat was great ....   could I eat it all ??

Anyway...  it all went done the slot and no waste...  in these times you cannot afford waste !!

Pleasant surroundings and I think its getting a make over as you can still smell the paint,  annoying at first, but once the first scoop was down I was oblivious to it

What makes it was the wife was happy,   the bairn was happy and a quick walk around the park to feed the hungry deer and ducks ...  everyone is a winner

Dads full of food and beer...  with an empty wallet
Wife's happy as its some where new and the bairn was looked after and mixed with kids in the play area ... and so we could have some quality "us time"  like it was many years ago

So if you want to mix beer and food, have bairns,   maybe its an afternoon out...   but don't forget your money and don't forget your wellies

but it wont be cheap

Unless you get fish and chips from the town,  sit by the water and eat them...  then walk around the park with a few old crusts of bread and feed the animals

Don't forget to take your rubbish home !!

It's on the entrance to Whitworth Park. About a mile down from four lane ends in Spennymoor
