The Bolton Arms, Redmire
« on: Jan 27, 2012, 22:49 »
Ventured out today in sleety showers as far as Redmire and over the tops (snow about 2" deep) to Reeth.

We ate at The Bolton Arms in Redmire, and thought it was very good.  There is a pukka restaurant, but we, like others, stayed in the bar where there was a good fire.  Main + ice cream, ale and coffee was £25.  Good value I thought.

Black Sheep, yes . . . John Smiths, Theakstons, and various others I had never heard of from local breweries.  They display the "Cask Marque" sign.  Cheery landlord too, and a steady stream of locals all the time we were there.  Car parking is minimal - the pub is on a narrow lane in the heart of the village, so you need to park where you considerately can and walk the last bit.  I had the steak and ale pie with a suet crust - and the crust was to die for.
