The Seven Stars - Shincliffe
« on: Oct 12, 2004, 22:16 »
Well, after much humming and harring, we chose this pub tonight instead of the Saxon at Escomb as it would be easier to find in the dark. The pub is situated on a corner between the roads into Shincliffe Village and the main one running into Durham from Bowburn.

To cut a long story short, I wish we'd gone to Escomb. We ordered Seasoned Pork Sausage for me and my other half selected Steak and Ale Pie. The meals took about 30 minutes to arrive. Mine was ok, but Den's was cold in the middle. At the same time she revealed this, a guy sitting at the next table said his Steak and Ale was cold too, so they were sent back to the kitchen.

50 minutes later a replacement arrived. Another diner had ordered Steak & Ale Pie just before ours went back and he waited nearly an hour for his. The dining room wasn't busy at all (there were 3 tables occupied for food and another couple of ladies who came in for a cup of tea and a chat), so there was no excuse for the poor service.

In short, very poor and not recommended, based on this experience.
