The Ramside is a bit of an iffy one. A lot of locals aren`t going there anymore because of the poor service and food.
I haven`t heard a good comment about it in quite a few months.

thanks for that - just done a quick google and it came up with this -

seems that the reviews in recent months haven't been to good... :(

I dont think the one you list for Lumley Castle is a Christmas Day lunch rather than a Christmas Lunch on another day.

Each to his own but I'd never consider going out for Christmas Dinner even if it was free at the best place in the country.  There's nothing like being at home with loved ones and enjoying ones own company and not sharing it with a few dozen others who are not related or friends. A couple of dry sherries to start before Christmas lunch.  Some good wine during the meal (my preference is for red, which is not considered correct for Turkey) and a couple of glasses of Fonseca Guimarens Port.

(OK my friends family own the company, but I like it)  http://tinyurl.com/ygrzewm  David Guimarens also is head winemaker for Taylor's and Croft.

Hi

Dunno if I am too late for you. The Quarry burn in hunwick (just google it) is £50 per head and I think they have some space left.

Shame I couldn't get you into the Joiners Arms in Hunwick. Their Christmas day lunch is only £25 per head... seriously underpriced (it might go to £30 next year) for what would be really good food. unfortuantely you would need to book it by September or Octoberat the latest.

that said I am with Lancelot. Christmas lunch at home with family... Unbeatable!!

We had lunch with my mam. We'd got a Turkey Crown and all the trimmings. It was great. Not too much mess, and everything cleared away by 1:30pm.
