Title: alex's bets
Post by: bazza on Aug 23, 2006, 23:26
[Admin : this thread was split from here : http://www.neforum2.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,10048.0.html]

The bulletins here say that Michael Laudrup is on Quinny's shortlist for a possible new manager... I just may have a wee bet on that one...

I have seen your bets before Alex? about as good as Sunderland's results? :D

Hmm, am still winning more than I lose, though, pumpkin, and if I'm not mistaken I finished top of our betting thingy on here before the Forum had to move location.

The last five-game bet I put down on here I had four games spot on and only missing out on a nice lil' win when a goal came in added time in the fifth game. I admit, I don't win every time I place a bet but I tend to go for a mix of "bankers" and the odd couple of "daring" ones giving me some nice odds. When I then win I win enough money on one bet to not have to win for weeks in order to still be on top. You win some you lose some, sure, and that's part of the game, but I'm not unhappy as I do alright.

I wish more people on here would get into posting their bets, am sure I'm not the only fella who likes a good flutter. I sometimes feel a bit daft for posting them all on my own, maybe I just shouldn't bother.

Do you put your bets on as accumulators, or are they individual wagers?

It's a well known fact that multi-bets, although they return a lot of money when you win, are the bread and butter of a bookmaker's income. No sarcasm intended and I know it's just a bit of fun.

I mostly place my regular bets on a bunch of about five games or so and then need all five to be correct to win anything. I've lost counts on how many times I've had just one of the five games wrong over the years and it's somewhat annoying when that happens but putting just a tenner on each five-game bet I don't lose too much when I lose and when I win I win a nice lil' sum as well. Overall if I spend, say, ?100 a month on various bets I prob win between ?150 and ?200 back. Not a massive payout but I'm not a massive gambler, I just like a lil' bet on the odd game. My biggest win came a few years back where I'd gone for six draws played straight up and all six were spot on. I don't expect to repeat that too often but it's nice when it does happen.

50 - 100 per cent profit you say? That's really hard to believe ... but we can check can't we? You keep posting your bets, alex ... if you're that good we'll follow them and all get rich.

A trixie is always a good bet. Get only 2 from 3 right and still make a profit if the odds are ok.

Sigh.

I don't really see why I need to prove anything, you don't believe me, fair enough, that's your call.

The point I was trying to make, though, is I don't win more than two or three times a month but when I do I win more than I've lost on the games I miss out on. Simple as that, really.

No it isn't. He doesn't have to prove anything to you at all. It was a throwaway estimate of how he feels his bets go, it won't be right every time, some times he'll do better, sometimes worse, so stop picking fights please.?

No fights being picked by me, I'm not the one who threw in the indicative comment, I'm not the one who implied sides in a simple exchange of rhetoric. Perhaps I should have used 'one' instead of 'you' ... my apologies, but  the statement remains true: the onus is always on the claimant to supply evidence. I never mentioned proof.

No, you mentioned "evidence". Anyway, I'm not bored enough to bother getting into this with you this early in the day. I've put up my bet for this week-end already, have a look if you like and tell me what you think of my choices instead of having a go at me, that would be nice. I don't post my bets on here to look stupid or to show off or get into silly arguments. When I post them I do so to try and get a decent discussion going on betting and footie betting in particular. I don't win everytime, I've said that already, but with you I can't win at all it seems. If you didn't come across this bitter we could prob enjoy a decent discussion on the topic.
Title: alex's bets
Post by: Phil on Aug 25, 2006, 16:22
Couple of things. I'm not bitter and I'm not having a go at you, alex. I would have made the same observation if anyone had made the claim you did. I stand by that: a steady 50+% return on gambling seems very unlikely to me. And I suggested quantifying the posted bet so we can test its prowess. Hey, I might be surprised, but at least checking the results against the predictions means it's no longer anecdotal. Best of luck to you mate, I truly hope you win.

And I think sharing my viewpoint satisfies the intention to get some banter going about betting.

That was an admin request. It is not advisable to defy admin requests.?

If the administration has any problems with my posts I'm sure a note to me privately would be forthcoming. Deus doesn't strike me as the kind to get bent out of shape about a difference of opinion. What's the point of a discussion board if not to discuss things?? :) I appreciate the heads-up though, STK, ta.

I notice my Karma has been shredded. Bummer.

Don't think the content of the post was a problem, rather the tone in which it was made.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Aug 25, 2006, 17:00
Yes, I thought the tone was a bit odd as well, like.

Just out of interest, Phil, are you a betting man yourself ? If so then I fail to grasp how you can't see that it's more than doable to bet the way I do and have done for years. Do me a favour and have a look at the figures, please:

On average a tenner a bet ten times a month = ?100, right ? I very rarely do a five game bet below the odds of ten times the money back but I don't always bet a tenner, sometimes just a fiver. This means that I only need to win one or two of the ten bets each months and lose the remaining eight-nine bets to break even. As it happens I usually succeed in winning at least two of the ten bets each month. That means I lose about ?80 worth of failed bets but winning 'round ?150-200 on the two bets I do end up winning. I don't get a 50-100% return on every single bet, that would, as you so "delicately" put it, be hard to beleive, sure, but overall after a full month that just happens to be the usual outcome of the bets combined. When you look at it that way, which, may I add, is the correct way of looking at it, then it's only hard to beleive if you don't understand how betting actually works. Or, dare I say it, is against betting altogether.

Anyhoo, I did read your posts as being somewhat negative and yes I did and still do beleive you had a go at me, you say you didn't, fair enough, but that's how it felt. Oh, and just for the record, and I know you didn't say this directly but I'm not the one messing with your karma either. Other members must have read your posts the same way as I did is all I can say.

Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 01, 2006, 19:32
Sorry, bit late with the bet this week-end, been a mad few days here, but since it's currently one all in the first game of the five I've picked I'll post my bet anyway as anything is still up for graps.

*? Straight home win for my country against Portugal tonight? (odds 2.35)? Correct 4-2
*? Straight home win for Darlo against Torquay also being played tonight? (odds 1.65)? Wrong 1-1
*? Straight home win for Forest against Chesterfield being played Saturday? (odds 1.45)? Correct 4-0
*? England to beat Andorra by three clear goals or more? (also Saturday, odds 1.20)? Correct 5-0
*? and a straight home win for Carlisle against Cheltenham? (Sunday, odds 1.75)? Correct 2-0

As usual I need all five to be correct and if spot on it's 11.8 times the tenner back.

And sorry for any spelling errors, am on my second bottle of white here while watching the Norseman try and get a win over the team that finished fourth in the World Cup heehee?
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 05, 2006, 15:25
Well, Darlo let me down so I didn't get all five spot on but my country beat Portugal four-two (our first ever win against them) with Thomas S?rensen saving a Ronaldo penalty, too, which was a right laugh. Anyhoo, most of the week-end bets aren't yet up here as the new odds are updated Tuesdays and Fridays but I've put together a lil' teaser for the EURO Qualifiers and friendlies in midweek:

*? Brazil to beat Wales by two clear goals or more tonight? (odds 1.85)? Correct 2-0
*? Straight away win for Denmark against Iceland tomorrow (we've never lost to our former colony in eighteen games thus far and tomorrow will hopefully continue that run)? (odds 1.60)? Correct 0-2
*? Spain to beat Northern Ireland away by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.60)? Wrong 3-2
*? Straight home win for Norway against Moldova? (odds 1.18)? Correct 2-0
*? and Lithuania v Scotland to draw? (odds 3.00)? Wrong 1-2

Combined odds on all five is nicely 16.76 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets

My bet for this week-end, all games being played Saturday:

*? Straight home win for Arsenal against the Boro? (odds 1.20)? Wrong 1-1
*? Home win for Chelsea by two clear goals or more against Charlton Athl.? (odds 1.55)? Wrong 2-1
*? Sheff Utd v Blackburn Rovers to draw? (odds 3.00)? Correct 0-0
*? Straight home win for Brum against Hull? (odds 1.35)? Correct 2-1
*? and a straight away win for the Lads against Derby Co.? (odds 2.55)? Correct 1-2

As usual I need all five games to go my way and if they do then the bet is 19.2 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 12, 2006, 19:10
Got a wee bet on some of tonight's games:

*? Straight home win for Darlo against Bury? (odds 1.55)? Correct 1-0
*? Home win for Chelsea against Werder Bremen by two clear goals or more? (odds 2.10)? Correct 2-0
*? Home win for Barcelona against Levski Sofia by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.40)? Correct 5-0
*? Olympiakos v Valencia to draw? (odds 2.95)? Wrong 2-4 (was 2-2 with five mins to go...)
*? and a straight home win for Forest against Oldham? (odds 1.35)? Wrong 0-2?(first loss of the season for Forest and Oldham's first win at Forest since September 1933 !?...)

Combined odds if all five correct is 18.14 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: Legend on Sep 13, 2006, 08:01
You were going really well there until the last two scuppered it. How many people would have picked Oldham to win at Forest? Not many, but that's the way it goes.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 13, 2006, 08:17
Yea, the CL game I had wrong I felt had draw written all over it and like you say, pumpkin, I was doing alright right till five mins from the end. Forest was an odd result and if I was to pick the games again I most likely would have picked the same five, I don't understand how Oldham managed a win at theirs, that truly is mind boggling to me. Mind, Darlo left it very late as well, would've been somewhat annoying if I had them wrong two games in a row... I'll have a fresh bet on a handful of games tonight as well but I haven't yet had a closer look at the list so I'll have to get back with that later today. It's all just a bit of fun anyway? 8)

If I'd gone for a 2/5 or 3/5 system instead of going for all five to be correct I would've had a win on my last four bets... I might just do both tonight for a larf.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 13, 2006, 13:56
Righty, how's this for a?wee bet tonight:

*? Straight home win for Lyngby against ?lstykke in the Danish 1st Divison? (odds 1.25)? Correct 2-1
*? Straight home win for Man Utd against Celtic? (odds 1.30)? Correct 3-2
*? FC Copenhagen v Benfica to draw? (odds 3.00)? Correct 0-0
*? Straight home win for AC Milan against AEK Athens? (odds 1.12)? Correct 3-0
*? and a straight win for the Lads away at Leeds Utd? (odds 2.90)? Correct 0-3?

Played straight up with all five needed to be correct the bet is 15.83 times the tenner back. But for a larf am also doing the five games in a 2/5 system with ten double bets with ten kroner on each bet (about a pound).

Haven't had a win on my five game bet in a good three weeks now so a win tonight would be good heehee If not it's only a matter of time before Phil begins to grumble again?

Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: Durham Forum on Sep 13, 2006, 23:05
So it all rests on the Lyngby game as the other 4 are correct. Am I right in saying they won 2-1 (Holst 2)? If so, you've got a few kroner to spend my friend!? :)
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 13, 2006, 23:44
Yup, Lyngby beat ?lstykke by two goals to one?

With the 2/5 bets as well as the five games played straight on I won just short of 2,000 kroner tonight (about ?190 or so). So from having spend ?90 on the bets since I last had a win I'm now back on track again with ?100 in profit? 8)
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 14, 2006, 15:23
Had a wee look at tonight's UEFA Cup games and have found a lil' selection that tickles my fancy:

*? Levadia Tallinn v NUFC to end in a draw? (odds 3.55)? Wrong 0-1
*? Straight home win for Lokomotiv Moscow against Zulte-Waregem? (odds 1.22)? Correct 2-1
*? Straight win for Ajax Amsterdam away at Start? (odds 1.50)? Correct 2-5
*? Straight home win for Fenerbache against Randers FC? (odds 1.10)? Correct 2-1
*? Salzburg v Blackburn Rovers to end in a draw? (odds 3.10)? Correct 2-2

Gonna play them straight on and need all five to be correct to win. If I do then the bet is 22.15 times the tenner back.

Had a draw in both Hearts v Sparta Praghue and Trapzonspor v Osasuna (bugger 2-2) as well but in the end I decided to go for a draw for NUFC instead, hope I won't be regretting that in three hours time?
Title: Re: alex's bets

My five game bet for the week-end:

*? Straight win for Bayern M?nchen away at Bielefeld? (odds 1.50)? Wrong 2-1 (Bayern were one-nil up after just three mins...)
*? Sheff Utd v Reading to draw? (odds 3.00)? Wrong 1-2 (Reading scored their first after just 16 secs...)
*? Straight home win for the Lads against Leicester City? (odds 1.50)? Wrong 1-1
*? Straight home win for West Brom against Southend? (odds 1.45)? Wrong 1-1
*? and a straight home win for ManUre against Arsenal played Sunday? (odds 1.75)? Wrong 0-1

Need all five to be correct as usual and if spot on the bet is 17.12 times the tenner back? 8)
Title: Re: alex's bets

What a mess the last bet turned out to be, eh, ah well, the good thing is it cannot possibly get any worse, so onwards and upwards, I say. Here's my bet for this week-end, all five games being played today:

*? Home win for Arsenal against Sheff Utd by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.70)? Correct 3-0
*? Straight away win for Chelsea at Fulham? (odds 1.33)? Correct 0-2
*? Leeds Utd v Brum to draw? (odds 3.05)? Wrong 3-2 Brum own goal at the very end :x
*? Straight away win for Man Utd at Reading? (odds 1.40)? Wrong 1-1, go figure...
*? and a straight home win for Auxerre against Sedan? (odds 1.50)? Wrong 2-2

Need all five to be correct to win but if they are the bet is 14.48 times the tenner back. Having spent ?120 now and winning ?190 in total on the bets in recent weeks a win today would be interesting? 8)
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 26, 2006, 18:57
Righty, time to try and get back on track me thinks heehee

*? Home win for Arsenal against FC Porto by two clear goals or more? (odds 2.15)? Correct 2-0
*? Straight away win for Man Utd against Benfica? (odds 2.20)? Correct 0-1
*? Straight home win for Real Madrid against Dynamo Kiev? (odds 1.22)? Correct 5-1
*? Straight home win for Peterborough against Barnet? (odds 1.70)? Wrong 1-1
*? and a straight home win for L'pool against Galatasaray? (odds 1.30)? Correct 3-2

Need all five games to be correct to win and if so the winnings will be 12.75 times the tenner back.

The first four games are all being played tonight, the L'pool game is tomorrow.

Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 30, 2006, 07:46
Yup, close but no cigar, I'm afraid.

This week-end I'm going for these five games :

*? Straight away win for Arsenal against Charlton Athl.? (odds 1.50)? Correct 1-2
*? Home win for Chelsea by exactly one goal against Villa? (odds 3.75)? Wrong 1-1
*? Straight home win for the Lads against Sheff Weds? (odds 1.50)? Correct 1-0
*? Straight away win for Celtic against Falkirk? (odds 1.22)? Correct 0-1
*? and a home win for Man Utd against Newcastle Utd by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.95)  Correct 2-0

Was also considering Sheff Utd v the Boro to end in a draw and a straight home win for Everton against Man City.

The first three games are all being played this afternoon, the last two are being played Sunday. All five games spot on will give 20.07 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Oct 07, 2006, 11:32
Another close call but sadly Chelsea let me down (or S?rensen was just too good in the Villa goal )

This week-end I'm going for these five games, all being played today:

*? Forest v S****horpe to draw? (odds 3.40)? Wrong 0-4
*? Straight away win for Lithuania against the Faroe Islands? (odds 1.28)? Correct 0-1
*? England to beat Macedonia by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.40)? Wrong 0-0
*? Straight home win for Denmark against Northern Ireland? (odds 1.20)? Wrong 0-0
*? and Sweden v Spain to draw? (oods 3.05)? Wrong 2-0

I have a sneaky feeling Macedonia won't be a push-over and I'd prefered a straight win for England instead but that wasn't down as an option on the odds sheet here. I also reckon the Norsemen will do well against Northern Ireland and that we'll win by more than the odd goal but I'm playing it safe and have gone for just a straight win there.

Need all five games to be correct to win; the bet is 22.29 times the tenner back if successful.

Righty, now that I'm finally back online it's time to get the betting slips running again. Here's my humble selection for this week-end, all being played later today:

*? Straight home win for L'pool against Reading? (odds 1.22)? Correct 2-0
*? Home win for Man Utd against Pompey by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.90)? Correct 3-0
*? Watford v the Boro to end in a draw? (odds 3.00)? Wrong 2-0
*? Straight home win for Celtic against Hearts? (odds 1.38)? Correct 2-1
*? and Newcastle v Sheff Utd to end in a draw? (odds 3.40)? Wrong 0-1

Need all five to be spot on to win anything but if I do get them all correct the odds are 32.62 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Nov 07, 2006, 16:37
Hmm, not the best beginning to a new betting month that, but maybe things will be better with my mid-week betting slip:

*? Straight home win for Stuttgart against Hamburger SV in the German Bundesliga? (odds 1.65)? Correct 2-0
*? Straight home win for Caen against Creteil in the French Div 2? (odds 1.40)? Correct 1-0
*? Niort v Chateauroux in the French Div 2 to end in a draw? (odds 2.60)? Wrong 2-0
*? Man Utd to win away at Southend in the League Cup by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.95)? Wrong 1-0
*? and a home win for Celtic against Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.45)? Wrong 0-0

All five games are being played tonight. Need all five to be spot on to win but if they are the odds are 16.98 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Nov 10, 2006, 17:04
Both Man Utd and Celtic losing in the League Cup, how odd was that ? Ah well, time for the week-end betting slip with the first two games being played tonight even:

*? Home win for Hansa Rostock against Eintracht Braunschweig by exactly one goal? (odds 3.75)? Wrong 4-0
*? Straight home win for Strasbourg against Libourne? (odds 1.35)? Correct 2-1
*? Home win for Chelsea against Watford by two clear goals or more? (odds 1.45)? Correct 4-0
*? Straight home win for Pompey against Fulham? (odds 1.70)? Wrong 1-1
*? and a straight away win for Man Utd against Rovers? (odds 1.55)  Correct 0-1

All five correct will give odds 19.34 times the tenner back.

Been too busy of lately to have had a proper look at any footie bets but I've had a closer look at some of the games up later today and have gone for these five games:

*? Home win for Arsenal against Spurs by exactly one goal? (odds 3.33)? Wrong 3-0
*? Wigan v Liverpool to end in a draw? (odds 3.20)? Wrong 0-4
*? Straight home win for the Lads against Norwich? (odds 1.85)? Correct 1-0
*? Straight away win for Man Utd against the Boro? (odds 1.50)? Correct 1-2
*? and a straight away win for Barcelona against Levante in La Liga? (odds 1.33)? Wrong 1-1

As usual I need all five to be correct to win anything but if they are all spot on the odds are 39.32 times the tenner back.

Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Dec 03, 2006, 11:32
Not sure about luck, pumpkin, the ones I ended up having wrong went completely wrong so it's not really that unlucky, I guess. I didn't expect Arsenal to beat Spurs this convincingly without Henry in the side yesterday and with Spurs having lost just one game of their last thirteen in all competitions leading up to yesterday's game. But then again, hand a team two weak penalty decisions, have them score on them both and hey presto any bet would be down the drain. And Liverpool ? Well, despite playing some decent footie in the Champions League their away form in the national league this season has been potty to say the least and Wigan have had a fine season so far not at least at home. I figured a draw would be the most likely outcome having that in mind but if one of the sides would nick all three points it would prob be the visitors. I didn't expect them to win four-nil, though, I guess Benitez has finally figured out Gerald is at his best playing where he's put him now and not move him around like a lost sheep in every game. Still four-nil was unexpected to me. The only game of the five chosen I could say I was prob a bit unlucky with was the Barca game. They went a goal up in the first half from a screamer of a free-kick but ended up drawing with Levante when the homeside scored from one heck of a scramble finishing the game one all. That was prob unlucky. But then again, from what I hear the Lads weren't exactly unlucky to get all three points at home to Norwich yesterday either heehee

Ah well, bad beginning to a new betting month but there's always next week :D

Time for a silly lil' bet on tonight's games. Forgot to bring my wallet to the garage just now and I only had a 20 kroner coin on me so I thought I'd put together a wicked bet instead tonight (didn't really fancy trotting home in the heavy rain and cold just to return to the garage and then to go back home again). Anyhoo, since the betting slip tonight is a tad on the off side of things I've only gone for four games:

*  FC Copenhagen v Celtic to end goal less (only goal less will count)  (odds 6.90)  Wrong 3-1
*  Home win for Man Utd against Benfica by exactly one goal (be that 1-0, 2-1, 3-2...)  (odds 3.80)  Wrong 3-1
*  Newcastle v Reading to end in a draw (any draw will do)  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 3-2
*  and West Ham v Wigan to end in a draw as well ( any draw will do here, too)  (odds 3.15)  Wrong 0-2

The first two games are taken from the Champions League, the last two games from the Premiership. All being played tonight with kick-off shortly.

Need all four games to go my way to win anything but if they do then the odds are an amazing 256 times the 20 kroner back hahaha Would be a canny bet if that came off

Hahaha just turned the telly on and noticed FC Copenhagen have already taken the lead. Ah well

Righty, am just about out of bed again here after close to three weeks of feeling sh*te being ill. Still on antibiotics for a few more days but at least I'm feeling a lot better now. And feeling better means the betting slips are on again. Getting four out of four games completely wrong the last time it can't possibly get as bad this time 'round, surely

Anyhoo, I've gone for these five games this time:

*  Straight home win for Brum against Luton  (odds 1.30)  Wrong 2-2
*  Blackburn v the Boro to draw  (odds 3.15)  Wrong 2-1
*  Home win for Chelsea by two clear goals or more against Fulham  (odds 1.53)  Wrong 2-2
*  Home win for Man Utd by two clear goals or more against Reading  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 3-2
*  and a straight home win for the Lads against Preston  (odds 2.05)  Wrong 0-1

Need all five to be correct to win anything but if so the bet is 19.90 times the tenner back. The Brum game is being played Friday, the other four games are all being played Saturday.

Am also having a wee sneaky bet on these games here (some are the same as the first betting slip):

*  Straight home win for Brum against Luton  (odds 1.30)  Wrong 2-2
*  Blackburn v the Boro to draw  (odds 3.15)  Wrong 2-1
*  Everton v Newcastle to draw  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 3-0
*  Home win for Man Utd by two clear goals or more against Reading  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 3-2
*  Colchester v Wolves to draw  (odds 3.15)  Wrong 2-1
*  and a straight home win for the Lads against Preston  (odds 2.05)  Wrong 0-1

Gonna play this one using the 3/6 system where I only need three games correct to win something. That gives in total twenty different bets combined and I'll put ?1 on each bet. And just in case I'm heading for some amazing luck am gonna put ?3 on all six to be correct as well at odds 127 times the bet back, very sexy

That was prob the worst way to finish off the year betting wise

Nevermind, a new year and fresh betting slips are on their way. This week-end, being FA Cup week-end, there are some interesting games up with quite a few possible slip-ups for some of the teams but I've had a good think and have come up with these five games for the first betting slip of 2007 :

*  Brum v Newcastle to draw  (odds 3.00)  Correct 2-2
*  Straight home win for Derby against Wrexham  (odds 1.22)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for Reading against Burnley  (odds 1.40)  Postponed *  (Correct, though, 3-2)
*  Straight home win for Man Utd against Villa  (odds 1.25)  Correct 2-1
*  and Everton v Rovers to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 1-4

Need all five to be spot on to win anything.

20.49 times the tenner back.

*  The odds for the game will be reset to 1.00, meaning I only need the remaining four to be correct.

Betting slip for the week-end :

*  Straight home win for PSG against Valenciennes  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 1-2
*  Home win for Man Utd against Aston Villa by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.70)  Correct 3-1
*  West Ham v Fulham to draw  (odds 3.05)  Correct 3-3
*  Straight home win for S'land against Ipswich  (odds 1.70)  Correct 1-0
*  and a straight home win for Glasgow Rangers against Dundee Utd  (odds 1.25)  Correct 5-0

Need all five to be correct to win. But if so then the bet is 17.07 times the tenner back.

The first game is taken from the best French league and has a 2pm kick-off. The other four games all have 3pm kick-offs. All five being played Saturday.

Close but no cigar last week-end. This time 'round I've gone for these five games :

*  Wolves v Cardiff to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 1-2 (Byrne scoring the winner in the 88th minute :?)
*  Straight away win for S'land against Sheff Weds  (odds 2.75)  Correct 2-4
*  Straight home win for Juventus against Bari  (odds 1.18)  Correct 4-2
*  Straight home win for Inter Milan against Fiorentina  (odds 1.35)  Correct 3-1
*  and a home win for FC Barcelona against Gimnastic by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.45)  Correct 3-0

Combined odds for all five games correct is 20.32 times the tenner back.

The first three games are being played Saturday with Wolves v Cardiff being an early kick-off. The remaining two games are being played Sunday. All are league games.

A mere two mins from winning about ?200 last week-end, how annoying.

For tomorrow and Sunday I've gone for these five games :

*  Straight home win for Derby against Bristol Rovers  (odds 1.28)  Correct 1-0
*  Straight home win for Spurs against Southend  (odds 1.15)  Correct 3-1
*  Home win for Man Utd against Pompey by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.72)  Wrong 2-1  (Kanu scoring for Pompey in the 87th minute :?)
*  Wolves v West Brom to end in a draw  (odds 3.05)  Wrong 0-3
*  and a home win for Chelsea against Forest by three clear goals or more  (odds 2.35)  Correct 3-0

The first three games are being played Saturday with Man Utd v Pompey being a late kick-off. The remaining two games are both being played Sunday. Need all five games to be correct to win.

18.14 times the tenner back.
Title: Re: alex's bets

Having a wee bet on in mid week. Have gone for these five games :

*  Straight home win for Trabzonspor against Gaziantespor  (odds 1.50)  Correct 1-0
*  Home win for Schalke against Aachen by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.70)  Wrong 2-1
*  Straight home win for Arsenal against Spurs in the League Cup  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 1-1
*  Home win for Man Utd against Watford by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.45)  Correct 4-0
*  and Newcastle v Aston Villa to end in a draw  (odds 3.05)  Wrong 3-1

All five games spot on gives 18.6 times the tenner back.

All five games are being played Wednesday. The Turkish game is a cup game as well but the other three games are all league games.

Potty result in mid-week both betting wise and for the Lads but swiftly moving on to this week-end's betting slip I'm hopeful it won't get as bad again.

*  Cardiff v Barnsley to end in a draw  (odds 3.40)  Wrong 2-0
*  Straight home win for S'land against Coventry  (odds 1.50)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight home win for Gent against Lokeren  (odds 1.35)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for St. Etienne against Sedan  (odds 1.35)  Wrong 1-2
*  and Celtic to win away at Livingston by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.50)  Correct 1-4

Cardiff v Barnsley is being played tonight. Celtic play Sunday while the other three games are all being played Saturday. Gent v Lokeren is taken from the best Belgien League with St. Etienne v Sedan from the best French League. All five games spot on give 13.94 times the tenner back.

I bet you lose
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Feb 02, 2007, 20:44
Just might, Cardiff are two goals up here close to halftime so the betting slip could be down the draw even before kick-off tomorrow. But at least I have fun picking the games and watching the games and am not scared of facing the music when I get them wrong. You win some you lose some and that's how it should be. If people don't want to read my picks then they can always stay clear of this section, simple as that, really. I do wish, though, that more people on here would take an interest and maybe even get a chat going on which games are worth a bet and which aren't. Put till that happens I'll just continue to hold the fort, I guess.

Anyhoo, I don't like picking Friday night games for a week-end slip but both Cardiff and Barnsley are in need of points and their respective run-up to tonight's game made a draw likely in my eyes. But seeing Cardiff lead two-nil close to half time I just might make a new slip for tomorrow as well picking a draw elsewhere and sticking with the other four games.

Just a bit of fun anyway.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Feb 03, 2007, 09:34
Righty, was slightly annoyed getting the Friday night game wrong messing up my betting slip even before the first ball is kicked this afternoon so I've made a second one :

* Man City v Reading to draw (odds 3.05)  Wrong 0-2
* Straight home win for S'land against Coventry (odds 1.50)  Correct 2-0
* Straight home win for Gent against Lokeren (odds 1.35)  Correct 3-1
* Straight home win for St. Etienne against Sedan (odds 1.35)  Wrong 1-2
* and a straight win for Man Utd away at Spurs (odds 1.70)  Correct 0-4

All league games. The first four being played today while Spurs v Man Utd is tomorrow. All five games correct give odds 14.17 times the tenner back. Was considering sticking with Celtic to beat Livingston away by two clear goals or more Sunday but the odds for that were a mere 1.50 and having in mind just how many games Celtic have won this season by just the odd goal I decided it wasn't worth the risk afterall. Replacing the Cardiff game from last night with a fresh draw between Man City and Reading I've stuck with the other three games as I have a good feeling about those.
Title: Re: alex's bets

Have a four game bet on tonight :

*  Home win for Germany against Schwitzerland by exactly one goal  (odds 3.50)  Wrong 3-1
*  Home win for Holland against Russia by exactly one goal  (odds 3.35)  Wrong 4-1
*  Home win for France against Argentina by exactly one goal  (odds 3.65)  Wrong 0-1
*  and a max of two goals scored in England v Spain regardless of result  (odds 1.60)  Correct 0-1

Combined odds for all four to be correct are 68.47 but since the odds are borderline silly I've only placed a fiver on the bet.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Feb 09, 2007, 12:17
Too many goals in the friendlies than I expected. Ah well. For the week-end I've come up with these five games for the slip :

*  Straight home win for Schalke against Hertha Berlin  (odds 1.50)  Correct 2-0
*  Home win for Chelsea against the Boro by exactly one goal  (odds 3.80)  Wrong 3-0, one of them a Xavier own goal...
*  Home win for Man Utd against Charlton by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.45)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight home win for Celtic against Hibs  (odds 1.22)  Correct 1-0
*  and a home win for Barcelona against Racing Santander by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.65)  Correct 2-0

Schalke are top of the Bundesliga and unbeaten at home all season with a goal score of 20-7 having won seven and drawn two at home having scored two goals or more in every single home game since August while Hertha Berlin have only managed one single win away this season (in mid November) having lost their last three away games with a goal score of 2-10...

Ballack got injured in Germany's friendly against Switzerland in midweek and at Stamford Bridge five of their nine home wins have been by just one goal this season. The Boro have lost eight out of ten league games this season by just one goal as well and added to that Chelsea have beaten the Boro by exactly one goal in seven of their previous nine meetings...

Racing Santander isn't one of the most prolific goal scoring sides in la Primivera Divisi?n and for this game their top scorer (Zigic) and his strike-partner (Munitis) are both sidelined. At home Barcelona are pretty safe having won eight of the ten games this season already and in the previous six games between these two sides Barcelona have won by two clear goals or more four times. Odds 1.65 on it happening again is pretty sexy in my eyes...

Barcelona v Racing Santander is being played Sunday. The other four games all have Saturday kick-offs.

All five games spot on give 16.63 times the tenner back.

My week-end betting slip :

*  Home win for FC Porto against Naval by exactly one goal  (odds 4.10)  Wrong 4-0
*  Straight home win for Arsenal against Rovers  (odds 1.30)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for S'land against Southend  (odds 1.45)  Correct 4-0
*  Home win for Chelsea against Norwich by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.45)  Correct 4-0
*  and a straight home win for Man Utd against Reading  (odds 1.20)  Wrong 1-1

The first game is taken from the best league in Portugal. S'land v Southend is also a league game while the other three games are from the FA Cup. FC Porto v Naval is being played tonight, the other four games are spread throughout Saturday.

Need all five to be spot on to win but if I succeed then the odds are 13.44 times the tenner back.

Some big teams messing up my slip at the week-end playing either too well at home or uninspired and unbelievably poor. Ah well, time for a mid-week slip and I've gone for these five games :

*  Celtic to either win or draw at home to AC Milan  (odds 1.45)  Correct 0-0
*  Straight away win for Man Utd against Lille  (odds 1.85)  Correct 0-1
*  S'land to either win or draw away at Brum  (odds 1.65)  Correct 1-1
*  Straight home win for Millwall against Leyton Orient  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 2-5
*  and a straight home win for Hartlepool against Macclesfield  (odds 1.45)  Correct 3-2

The first two games are taken from the Champions League while the remaining three games are all league games. All five being played tonight.

All five spot on give odds 10.26 times the tenner back.

Post by: alexander on Feb 20, 2007, 20:48
Yea, Millwall are running very thin with me and have been for a couple of years but they are three-nil down as we speak and at home playing a lower ranked team. I won't get the slip correct tonight now and if they fail to score a single goal that's them off my betting slip list for a while. It was either that one or a straight home win for Darlo but I wasn't too comfortable with Darlo even though they are on a good run. Wish I'd gone for them instead though

One wrong on the last slip, hoping to go one better this time 'round :

*  Straight home win for Caen against Niort  (odds 1.33)  Correct 4-0
*  Straight home win for Stuttgart against Hertha Berlin  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for Sunderland against Derby Co.  (odds 1.95)  Correct 2-1
*  Straight home win for PSV Eindhoven against Groningen  (odds 1.18)  Correct 1-0
*  And Celtic to beat Inverness CT by exactly one goal  (odds 3.75)  Correct 2-1

The first game is taken from the second best French League. The German game is taken from the Bundesliga, both being played tonight. The English and Dutch games are both league games and played Saturday while Inverness CT v Celtic is taken from the Scottish Cup being played Sunday.

All five games spot on give odds 18.36 times the tenner back.

Yes, and Hertha Berlin even had a player sent-off near the end, bit of a bugger but hey.

No, getting one game wrong is no good for the remaining games as I don't play them in a system. I do that with a very good friend of mine, though, playing a 2/5 system and we're not doing too bad on that. Maybe I should do the same on here as well hahaha

Anyhoo, there's always the next betting slip, no big deal, really, just a bit of fun anyway to make the games a wee bit more exciting.

Well, one wrong last time but I still believe in Schalke so I've gone for them again this time 'round, too :

*  Straight home win for Schalke against Hamburg  (odds 1.70)  Wrong 0-2
*  Straight home win for Herning against Nordsj?lland  (odds 1.18)  Correct 4-1
*  Straight home win for Odense against Esbjerg  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 0-1
*  Fulham v Villa to draw  (odds 3.10)  Correct 1-1
*  and a straight home win for Valencia against Celta Vigo  (odds 1.28)  Correct 1-0

Schalke v Hamburg is being played tonight. The two Danish ones are taken from the Play-Offs in the best Danish icehockey league and are both being played tonight as well while the remaining two games have Saturday kick-offs. All five games are league games in their respective countries.

All five games spot on give odds 12.33 times the tenner back.

Not a good result at the week-end on the slip. Schalke somehow failed to win at home for only the second time all season and one single goal in an ice hockey match is too little for any two teams to be proud of. Anyhoo, moving on it's time for a go at a mid-week slip instead :

*  Straight home win for Chelsea against FC Porto  (odds 1.28)  Correct 2-1
*  L'pool v Barcelona to draw  (odds 3.30)  Wrong 0-1
*  Straight home win for Valencia against Inter Milan  (odds 2.30)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for Exeter against Grays Athl.  (odds 1.55)  Correct 2-1
*  and a straight home win for Man Utd against Lille  (odds 1.25)  Correct 1-0

The Exeter v Grays Athl. game is taken from the Conference League, the other four are all from the Champions League. Man Utd v Lille is being played tomorrow, the first four games are all being played tonight.

All five games spot on give odds 18.82 times the tenner back.

*  Wolves v West Brom to draw  (odds 2.95)  Wrong 1-0

Not a lot of football on at the moment but I've found the odd game mixed with the England friendly tonight :

*  Bradley Dredge to do better than Retief Goosen in today's golf round  (odds 2.25)  Correct 66-73
*  Straight home win for Drogeda Utd. against Longford Town  (odds 1.25) Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for St. Patricks against Galway Utd.  (odds 1.33)  Wrong 1-2
*  Waterford Utd. v UC Dublin to draw  (odds 2.95)  Wrong 1-3
*  and England v Brazil to draw  (odds 2.95)  Correct 1-1

All five games are being played Friday and all five spot on give odds 32.55 times the tenner back.

Think I should avoid Irish league games for a bit

Anyhoo, I've got a wee bet on some of the International games tonight :

*  Croatia v Russia to draw  (odds 3.00)  Correct 0-0
*  Away win for Denmark against Latvia by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.00)  Correct 0-2
*  Away win for Italy against Lithuania by exactly one goal  (odds 3.55)  Wrong 0-2
*  Straight away win for England against Estonia  (odds 1.15)  Correct 0-3
*  and a straight home win for Norway against Hungary  (odds 1.33)  Correct 4-0

All five games are being played tonight and if spot on give odds 32.57 times the tenner back.

Cheers, yea, I have more bets on each week than I post on here and sadly in recent months I've posted the "wrong" ones but hey.

As I write this reply I have all five games tonight spot on as Italy have just taken the lead, Croatia v Russia is still goal less, England lead by a goal to nil at halftime and my native country lead two nil at halftime as well. Prob won't stay that way but stranger things have happened, I guess.

Very little football on offer at the moment, of course, and Wimbledon doesn't begin till tomorrow so I've only managed to dig out two games for my week-end slip this time :

*  Home win for FC Fyn by two clear goals or more against Hvidovre  (odds 3.45)  Wrong 0-0
*  and FC Sevilla to beat Getafe by two clear goals or more as well  (odds 3.50)  Wrong 1-0

The first game is part of the Play-Off games in the third best Danish league. The first game finished goal less and FC Fyn have a home record during the season of 11 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. In a third of their home games this season they have scored four goals or more and for today's game they can field almost their strongest side. Hvidovre aren't too good away from home and have their best two players out for today's game with an injury and a suspension respectively. Anything but a home win doesn't sound logic in my ears and I'm hoping for a win by two clear goals or more.

The second game is this year's Final of the Spanish Cup, Copa del Rey. In the league Getafe finished the season in mid-table nineteen points off Sevilla in third place and just 13 points off the relegation zone while Sevilla will play in the Champions League come next season (via the qualification scheme). Today's Final is being played on neutral ground (Estadio Santiago Bernab?u in Madrid to be precise) but I'm positive Sevilla will still lift the Cup in the end. In the six Cup games they have played this year four of them have been won by two clear goals or more and they have topscorer Frederic Kanout? back for this one as well as Daniel Alv?s which will give the team a massive boost am sure. Getafe on the other hand, well, in the previous six meetings between the two clubs Getafe have only managed to score once and in today's Final they will be without first choice 'keeper Abbondanzieri who's currently playing in the Copa America. Without their best 'keeper and with the team not doing well usually against Sevilla and with Kanout? and Alves back for their opponents I find it hard to see how Getafe will get anything from the game. There ought to be a clear cut showing of different class in this one and I'm hoping Sevilla will be victorious winning by two clear goals or more.

The Danish game kicks off at 3pm CET (which is in a few mins) while the Spanish game kicks off at 10pm CET. Both being played today and combined odds are 12.07 times the tenner back.

I have a wee slip on tonight now that the Scandinavian football leagues are well underway again after the Summer break :

*  Home win for Brommapojkarna against Trelleborg by two clear goals or more  (odds 3.45)  Wrong 0-3 !
*  Home win for Helsingborg against AIK Stockholm by exactly one goal  (odds 3.35)  Wrong 2-3
*  and a home win for V?lerenga against Troms? by exactly one goal  (odds 3.45)  Wrong 2-2

The first two games are taken from the best Swedish league, Allsvenskan. The third game is taken from the best Norwegian league, Tippeligaen. There's only one game in the Finnish league that appealed to me today and there is only one game in the best Danish legaue being played tonight but both of them two games I've left out of my slip simply because the combined odds for the three already chosen are silly anyway 8)

Combined odds on all three to be correct are 39.87 times the tenner back. And all three games have 7pm CET kick-offs.

What odds can you get on SAFC not getting relegated
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Jul 24, 2007, 14:34
Dunno about odds on the Lads not being relegated, they very rarely do odds like that on the betting thingy at my end. Foreign betting companies aren't allowed in my country so for years and years betting people like me have had to settle with the one there is (run by our government). They don't even do single bets... sigh

Anyhoo, I have a wee slip on for a few games up tonight as well just to make the pre-season seem a little less long :

*  Win for Germany against Greece by exactly one goal  (odds 3.35)  Wrong 2-3
*  Straight win for Schalke against FC N?rnberg  (odds 2.25)  Correct 4-2
*  Straight home win for Glasgow Rangers against Ajax Amsterdam  (odds 2.25)  Wrong 1-1
*  and a straight home win for Valur Reykjavik against Fylkir  (odds 1.45)  Wrong 2-4

The first game is the first Semi-Final of the U19 European Championships. The German game is a Semi-Final in the German League Cup. The Rangers game is a pre-season friendly and the last game of the four is taken from the best Icelandic league.

All four being played tonight (Germany v Spain is an early kick-off at 5.30pm CET) and the combined odds are 24.59 times the tenner back.

Oh, Happy Days, the season is finally upon us again !

Have gone for these five games this week-end :

*  Home win for Nantes against Clermont by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.10)  Wrong 2-2
*  Straight home win for Austria Wien against Wacker Innbr?ck  (odds 1.30)  Correct 6-1
*  Sunderland not to lose at home against Spurs  (odds 1.65)  Correct 1-0
*  Home win for Bayern M?nchen against Hansa Rostock by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.55)  Correct 3-0
*  and West Ham v Man City to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 0-2

The French game is taken from the second best French league. The second game is taken from the best Austrian league. The German game is taken from the Bundesliga where they also have the opening day of the season this week-end (tonight actually but hey). The last two are, of course, from the Premiership. The first two games are being played tonight, the other three all have Saturday kick-offs.

Need all five to be correct and if so the odds are 22.34 times the tenner back.

My main slip for tonight :

*  Straight home win for Cardiff against Brighton  (odds 1.45)  Wrong 0-0
*  Home win for Coventry against Notts County by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.15)  Correct 3-0
*  Home win for Sheff. Utd against Chesterfield by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.05)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for Watford against Gillingham  (odds 1.35)  Correct 3-0
*  And a home win for West Brom against Bournemouth by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.03)  Wrong 1-0

All five games are taken from tonight's League Cup and all five spot on give odds 17.51 times the tenner back.

I also have a second slip on tonight but that one is a wee bit silly so I've only put ?4 on it :

*  Straight home win for Lazio against Dynamo Bucharest  (odds 1.40)  Wrong 1-1
*  Home win for Coventry against Notts County by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.15)  Correct 3-0
*  Straight home win for Watford against Gillingham  (odds 1.35)  Correct 3-0
*  Home win for West Brom against Bournemouth by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.03)  Wrong 1-0
*  Home win for Glasgow Rangers against Red Star Belgrade by exactly one goal  (odds 3.35)  Correct 1-0
*  Spurs v Everton to draw  (odds 3.30)  Wrong 1-3
*  and a straight home win for Benfica against FC Copenhagen  (odds 1.38)  Correct 2-1

Lazio, Rangers & Benfica are from the CL Qualifiers the rest from the League Cup. All being played tonight. Need all seven to be correct to win but if so then the odds are 125.84 times the ?4 back.

Bit of a mixed bag of results last night. Tonight I'm going for just one slip with these five games on :

*  Straight home win for Fenerbache against Anderlecht  (odds 1.55)  Correct 1-0
*  Straight home win for Ajax Amsterdam against Slavia Prague  (odds 1.35)  Wrong 0-1
*  Straight win for S'land away at Brum  (odds 2.90)  Wrong 2-2
*  Straight home win for Wolves against Bradford  (odds 1.33)  Correct 2-1
*  and Wigan v the Boro to end in a draw  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 1-0

The first two games are taken from the CL Qualifiers, Wolves v Bradford is from the League Cup while the last two games are from the Premiership. All being played tonight and all five correct give odds 25.01 times the tenner back.

Righty, had a wee look at the oddset sheet up for the week-end and found these games for my week-end slip :

*  Straight home win for Fulham against the Boro  (odds 1.85)  Wrong 1-2
*  Straight home win for Spurs against Derby Co.  (odds 1.30)  Correct 4-0
*  Straight win for S'land away at Wigan  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 3-0
*  Straight home win for Glasgow Rangers against Falkirk  (odds 1.15)  Correct 7-2
*  and L'pool v Chelsea to end in a draw  (odds 2.85)  Correct 1-1

The Rangers game is taken from the Scottish Premiership, the other four are taken from the Premiership. L'pool v Chelsea is Sunday, the first four all have Saturday 3pm kick-offs.

All five correct give odds 24.43 times the tenner back.

Cheers, pumpkin, I still can't believe there is three times the money back on the S'land game alone. I accept we may not be favourites to win the game as such but surely three times back is a gift ? It was far too tempting that's for sure.

The biggest struggle this week-end was whether to pick the draw in L'pool v Chelsea or a draw in Brum v West Ham. Both have decent odds and I was even considering having them both in at one point but then the combined odds on all six would've been silly :D

The Boro and Derby Co. are going to struggle this season and to a degree already are and playing away at Fulham and Spurs I can't see them getting much from there. And Rangers should beat Falkirk fairly easy. I know they've only just played in the CL Qualifiers (which is why I didn't take them with a two clear goal win) but at home they should be able to win this one. And the draw in L'pool v Chelsea, well, I don't believe either team will go out pushing for a win tomorrow as such, simply because both teams know only two well how good the other team is on counter attacks and it would be somewhat silly to go out pushing forward too much opening up at the back doing so. And though both sides would like a win am sure a draw will suit them both as well. If there will be a winner I reckon it will come from a set piece.

Which means it could all be down to the Lads

And they are one of the nine games shown here this week-end from the Premiership. Six games today, three tomorrow. Don't you just luv Saturdays in season 8)

Righty, I have a few spare mins so here's my betting slip for tonight's Internationals :

*  Straight away win for Iceland against Liechtenstein  (odds 1.38)  Wrong 3-0
*  Straight home win for Denmark against Latvia  (odds 1.20)  Correct 3-1
*  Bosnia v Norway to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 0-2
*  and a max of two goals scored in Russia v England  (odds 1.58)  Wrong 2-1

Need all five to be correct to win but if spot on the bet is 25.10 times the tenner back.

A nice £140 odd win last week-end, though a bit lucky with two of my picks, I must admit, but still nice.

This is my slip for this week-end :

The first six games all have 3pm kick-offs tomorrow. Preston v L'pool is a late kick-off also tomorrow while S'hampton v Man Utd is being played Sunday. All eight games correct give odds 14.32 times the tenner back.

Not the best way to kick off a new pot but that's the charm and beauty of the FA Cup, I guess. Am having a wee mid-week slip to get myself into a good mood for the week-end. Hopefully anyway

*  Straight home win for Saudi Arabia against Kuwait  (odds 1.55)  Correct 1-0

*  Straight home win for Newcastle against Hull  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 0-1

*  and a straight home win for Man Utd against Wigan  (odds 1.14)  Correct 1-0

The first game is an international friendly. The next three games are all Cup ties while Man Utd v Wigan is a league game. All five being played today and combined odds on all five correct is 12.40 times the tenner back.

Close again but still no cigar. With few proper league games coming up this week-end from the Premiership am spreading the slip across Europe a bit as well as adding a sixth game to up the odds count a wee bit, too:

*  Straight win for Man City away at Pompey  (odds 2.40)  Wrong 2-0
*  Straight home win for Brum against Forest  (odds 1.60)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight win for Barcelona away at Real Betis  (odds 1.42)  Wrong 2-2
*  Straight home win for Napoli against Bologna  (odds 1.45)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for PSG against St. Etienne  (odds 1.50)  Correct 2-1
*  and a straight home win for Valencia against Malaga  (odds 1.52)  Wrong 1-1

All six games are league games and all being played Saturday. Combined odds on all six correct is 18.02 times the tenner back.

As in too high or too low for a straight away win ? Am happy with 1.50 as I can't really see anyone beating Man Utd at the moment.

Me neither but they'll put up a good fight am sure. Man Utd have both Rooney and Berbatov back for tonight which won't make things any easier for the homeside. 1.50 for a straight away win was just too tempting for me.

It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be.

It was an interesting game but I can't recall the last time I saw a game with so many different players taking a dive.

My humble slip for tomorrow:

*  Straight home win for the Lads against Spurs  (odds 2.55)  Wrong 1-1
*  Brum v S'Hampton to end in a draw  (odds 3.40)  Wrong 1-0
*  Straight home win for Cardiff against Doncaster  (odds 1.65)  Correct 3-0
*  and a straight home win for Real Madrid against Athletico Madrid  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 1-1

The oddset people have made Spurs slight favourites tomorrow which is too tempting for me to not go against.

All four games being played Saturday. Combined odds on all four correct is 23.60 times the tenner back.

Certainly hope you got the first one right.

Well, both teams have played the same number of games resulting in the same number of wins, same number of defeats and draws as well, of course. Spurs are one of three teams in the league with a neutral goal difference while ours are slightly negative (is it minus eight or something now ?). In the past couple of seasons games against Spurs have been interesting and I reckon it'll be a fairly even game with little between the two sides. Might even be settled from the penalty spot. I just hope it'll be to our benefit. It's a very open game in my eyes and anything can happen. Probably the odd goal deciding the outcome, I'd say. But a one-nil win will do me just fine

Though it could easily finish goalless, too I think. Is the game shown at your end, too ?

Oh, and congrats on reaching 1,000 posts by the way, nice one.

Been a while since I've had a slip on here so I've made a wonderfully silly one for today and tonight:

*  Straight home win for Australia against Uzbekistan (odds 1.23)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight home win for South Korea against North Korea (odds 1.50)  Correct 1-0
*  Turkey to draw at home with Spain (odds 3.20)  Wrong 1-2
*  Greece to win at home by exactly one goal against Israel (odds 3.40)  Correct 2-1
*  and England to beat the Ukraine by exactly two goals (odds 3.65)  Wrong 2-1

The games involving Australia and South Korea kick off pretty much about now and are both big home favourites to get straight wins. Turkey drew one all away in Spain on Saturday and I don't think a repeated draw on their own turf is unlikely. Greece played Israel away on Saturday as well, went a goal up but ended up drawing one all as well. At home I reckon they could squeeze a one goal win. And England are on fire at the moment and playing at home you should get a win. Just dunno how big so I've gone for a two goal win exactly. Both sides are unbeaten and the Ukraine have the best defensive record with England having scored the most goals by far. I don't think it'll be a rout but two goals for and none against at home sounds doable in my mind. Or three-one for that matter.

If all five games correct the odds are 73.26 times the tenner back

Back in the saddle (well it is the Grand National this week-end afterall) so here are my picks for tomorrow and Sunday:

*  Straight home win for Arsenal against Man City (odds 1.40)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight win for Chelsea away at Newcastle (odds 1.55)  Correct 0-2
*  The Lads not to lose away at West Ham (odds 1.73)  Wrong 2-0
*  Liverpool to win away at Fulham by exactly one goal (odds 3.35)  Correct 0-1
*  and a straight home win for Man Utd against Aston Villa (odds 1.28)  Correct 3-2

The first three games have 3pm kick-offs tomorrow with Fulham v L'pool being the late Saturday kick-off. Man Utd v Villa is being played Sunday. All five games correct give odds 16.09 times the tenner back.

Normally I avoid betting against the Lads but I reckon tomorrow is a win-win situation. If Man Utd get the expected win I’ll have the game correct on my week-end slip. Where as anything but an away win and the Lads will get at least a point. Am happy with that. This is my slip for the week-end:

*  Straight home win for L’pool against Blackburn (odds 1.23)  Correct 4-0
*  Celtic to win away at Hearts by exactly one goal (odds 3.45)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for Chelsea against Bolton (odds 1.20)  Correct 4-3
*  Straight win for Man Utd away at the Lads (odds 1.32)  Correct 1-2
*  Straight home win for Spurs against West Ham (odds 1.60)  Correct 1-0
*  and a straight win for Arsenal away at Wigan (odds 1.55)  Correct 1-4

All six games are being played Saturday. L’pool v Rovers and Hearts v Celtic have early kick-offs. The last four all have standard 3pm kick-offs.

Total odds on all six correct are the devilishly handsome 16.66 times the tenner back.

Cheers, mate, I made the slip on my way to mam's this morning but forgot about it till pretty much now. The first two games have early kick-offs as they are being played in the far East, of course, so I may end up having the slip completely wrong in the next few hours before the games tonight even kick-off. That's always a risk with spreading a bet a bit but here's hoping, eh.

I've never been any good at fractions, I'm afraid, is it not possible to place the odd bet when I move to the area three weeks from now using the numbers and ways I do now ? Or do I have to learn the fraction way of doing it ?

I use bet365.com for my bets, and they allow you to express the odds as either decimal or fractional.

Ah that's good, thank you. Do they have betting shops as well ? I prefer going to a place and fill out a betting form the old-fashioned way the most, I'm afraid. Not sure but I think there was a betting shop at the corner close to the pub in Shildon where I went to see the Everton game recently ? Dunno if that's a Bet365 place but I'll have to go in when I'm back that's for sure.

Am hoping my dreams come true and that both our countries qualify for the World Cup next Summer and meet in the tournament, too. Since we last met in a World Cup (where you deservedly won) we've played each other three times I think and all ending in defeats to you guys. I'm desperate to play you in a proper game again
Title: Re: alex's bets

I think Bet365 are purely an online operation, but any betting shop should offer help with odds expressed  in an unfamiliar format. There may be a conversion chart, or you could make your own by looking at odds on Bet365 and toggling between the two formats for common odds.

Both of us are doing well in our groups so we should both qualify ok, it's just then the luck of the draw I guess. Is Tommy Sorensen still your goalie?
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Jun 10, 2009, 14:07
Yup, Thomas Sørensen is still very much our number one. In fact he had one heck of a game against our old arch enemy Sweden at the week-end. They were unbeaten at home in five years and really needed three points as their qualifier campaign has been very poor till now (six points from five games with a goal tally of 2-1 says it all). Some ten mins or so into the game they got a penalty, a very, very weak one which only Mike Reiley (what is it with him, like ?) could see. Up stepped the Swedish lad to take the spot kick, never missed one in his International career and Tommy boy saves it hahaha From then and on it was very exciting to watch and the goal we eventually did score was a pure gift leaving the Swedes in an even worse situation in our group. Realistically they can still finish second, I guess, but they'll have to overtake both Portugal and Hungary to do that. If they don't beat Malta tonight and farely convincing, too, they are out.

A very sad thing happened during that game, though, as Henke Larsson's brother died. The player was told after the game and won't be playing for them tonight. Really puts everything into perspective and no-one were able to enjoy our win as much as we wanted, of course.

Three of our last four group games are at home in Copenhagen and we lead the group nicely with one draw and five wins (we've beaten both Portugal and Sweden away now) and a luvly goal tally of 14-2. Looking very good indeed.

I wonder if it is possible to place a bet on our two countries to play each other in South Africa next Summer already ? With all still very much up in the air and like you say, mate, luck of the draw, there ought to be some very handsome odds on it.

Thank you. I had a home win for Newcastle Utd by exactly one goal against Forest down on my lil' list first but when I found out they play Monday night and not at the week-end I changed it to the Watford v the Boro game instead. Quite often when I do that, though it turns out that I should've stuck with the first one but am hoping the change won't spoil my slip this time 'round.

Any news on the missing font sizes yet ? It looks a bit untidy at the moment and I hope it becomes possible to use the smaller ones again soon.

Oh, and there are odds 10.00 here on a straight win for the lads away at L'pool on Sunday. Am almost tempted to give that one a go as well as a silly single slip

Nothing on the fonts yet. It must allow it somewhere, I would suspect the CSS setup file that controls that layout sort of thing, but i'm in no way conversant with that code.

Yeh, had it been anyone but Super-Kev I would've been more annoyed but since it was him, well. Like a dear friend said after the game, he's a legend afterall.

Talking of Super-Kev, after we played Brum at the SoL recently and watching how he after the game had finished went around the ground applauding the supporters I had tears in my eyes. That must've been a very special moment for him, too.

I like the sound of cold beers watching the early kick-off tomorrow before heading to the game. Wish I could've joined you, mate. Both the Spurs game and West Ham next week are shown live on the telly here as usual so I'll have to do with a couple of cold Carlsberg cans on the sofa bed instead

* Straight home win for AS Roma against Sampdoria (odds 1.33)  Wrong 1-2

The German game and NUFC v Ipswich are being played Saturday afternoon. Villa v Brum is an early kick-off Sunday noon with the Scottish game kicking off at 2.30pm. With still about two weeks till the new season kicks off and because I can't seem to get fired up about the pre-season friendlies for some reason I'm going for two games from the best Danish league (Superliga) today. With our league having kicked off in mid July as usual this week-end is round three of 33 rounds already. Anything can happen this early on, of course, so I figured I'd just have a two game bet on today picking two somewhat silly bets:

*  Silkeborg to beat Lyngby by exactly two goals at home (odds 4.95)  Wrong 2-2  It was 2-0 with 18 mins left to play
*  and Brøndby to beat FC Midtjylland by eactly one goal at home (odds 3.65) Correct 1-0

The first game kicks-off at 4pm CET with the other game having a 6pm CET kick-off. Total odds on both correct are 18.06 times the tenner back.

*  Home win for England against Bulgaria by two clear goals or more (odds 1.79)  Correct 4-0
*  and a home win for Portugal against Cyprus by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 4-4 :|

Little else tempted me tonight, I'm afraid, and the odds are somewhat low because of that with total odds on all four correct 5.46 times the tenner back.

That Portugal/Cyprus score is unbelievable!
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Sep 04, 2010, 08:49
It sure is and it could've been allot worse for Portugal. Cyprus went one-nil up after just three mins. After eight mins it was one all but three mins later Cyprus were two-one up again. With two all at half time Portugal then took the lead twice in the second half and were leading 4-3 with just seconds remaining. And with me still in with a wee chance of getting my slip right. But then in the 89th minute Cyprus made it four-four. Bad for my slip but great for my national team as we're in the same Qualifying group. We don't play our first game till Tuesday (at home to Iceland) and for Portugal to already lose two points at this stage is not bad for us at all. But still, four-four is a wicked result.

Well done. Picking 2 draws is not easy.

Thanks. I had a silly six game slip on yesterday with three draws in as well and ended up getting all six spot on, too. Sadly the first three games had kicked off before I got 'round to posting the slip on here so in the end I decided not to. It's been a very long spell of not getting any slips right at all and then to get two in a row is just a bit silly. But hey, it means I don't have a negative tally on my forum bets any more, even with just the one I had right today. Though I did feel Chelsea left it a bit late for my liking. But a win is a win is a win as they say. :D

My slip for today (and tomorrow):

*  Straight home win for my home town of Varde against Lindholm IF  (odds 1.75)  Wrong 0-3
*  Straight home win for Dortmund against Nürnberg  (odds 1.35)  Correct 2-0
*  West Brom v Villa to end in a draw (odds 3.20)  Wrong 2-1
*  Straight home win for Chelsea against Spurs  (odds 1.42)  Correct 2-1
*  and a straight home win for AGF against Skive  (odds 1.33)  Correct 1-0

The first game is from the Danish 2nd Division (West) where a home win means my home town of Varde is certain to avoid relegation (Lindholm have conceeded 18 goals in their last five games and lost their last four). A straight home win for Dortmund will give them the German Bundesliga title this year. The Birmingham derby can go either way so why not a draw. Both Chelsea and Spurs need to win tonight but Chelsea are on quite a run and the last time Spurs beat them in the league was the day before Mandela was released from prison... and a straight home win for AGF in the Danish 1st Division will guarantee them promotion to the best league here after just one year out. The first four games are being played today. The last game tomorrow. Total odds on all five correct are 14.27 times the tenner back.

I have a sneaky couple of double bets on today:

*  Straight home win for Sunderland against Wolves  (odds 2.65)  Wrong 1-3
*  and West Brom v Everton to end in a draw (odds 3.20)  Wrong 1-0

plus

*  Home win for Sunderland against Wolves by two clear goals or more  (odds 5.60)  Wrong 1-3
*  and West Brom v Everton to end in a draw (odds 3.20)  Wrong 1-0

The odds on the Lads to win by two clear goals are ridiculously high and though I pretty much expect Wolves to come at us from all sides I couldn't resist making a second slip with the same game on only slightly different. If I get the second bet right I'll also get the first bet right. And since I have two slips this time I've devided the usual tenner into two as well just to keep it simple. Total odds on the first slip are 8.48 times the fiver back and 17.92 times the fiver back on slip number two. Both games kick off in one hour's time.

Not a whole lot to bet on at the moment but the new Danish football season kicks off here today so I've gone for a mixed slip with the added international game thrown in:

The first one is from the Copa America and is played early tomorrow morning. The other three are all from the Danish Superliga with the first two being played Sunday and the last one Monday night. Total odds on all four correct are 14.36 times the tenner back.

A pretty good start there young man !  :D

I was lucky to get just one of them to end in a draw let alone both of them. Three red cards in the first game and one in the second and Benfica hitting the cross bar with minutes left to play, too. How both games only finished one all beats me but I'm not complaining. :D

Just got back in so a bit late posting my lil' slip for tonight but just to see if I should be lucky two nights in a row here goes:

*  Hajduk Split v Stoke to end in a draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 0-1 Scored in time added on.
*  and Molde to win by exactly one goal away at Start (odds 3.75) Correct 1-2

The first game is from the Europa League Qualifying round while the second game is from the Norwegian Tippeligaen. Both games kicked off at the top of the hour and total odds on both games correct are exactly 12.00 times the tenner back.

I can't wait for the season to properly get started. It can't come early enough for me.

Me, too. On both.

But back on the horse again:

*  S'hampton v Leeds to draw (odds 3.25)  Wrong 3-1
*  and Horsens v AaB to draw (also odds 3.25)  Correct 3-3

The first game is from the Championship and kicks off shortly, the second game is from the Danish Superliga and kicks off at 6pm tonight. Total odds on both correct are 10.56 times the tenner back. Oddly enough the exact same number as the other night when I had the slip right.  :|

Been away all day helping mam out at her allotment (cutting her six foot tall hedges) so haven't had time to post my Saturday slip this time. On my way to her allotment I did manage to get myself a lil' slip, though but since all but one of the games are already finished I'm not going to use it as one of my Forum bets. But this is the slip. Only put a 50 kroner on (a fiver) and I only need Man Utd to beat Stoke. :)

Bit annoyed about Man Utd not winning yesterday but hey back on the horse and all that so this is my slip for today:

*  Home win for FC Fyn against my home town of Varde by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.75)  Wrong 0-0
*  St. Johnstone v Hearts to end in a draw  (odds 3.05)  Wrong 2-0
*  Catania v Juventus to end in a draw  (odds 3.20)  Correct 1-1
*  and a home win for QPR against Villa by exactly one goal  (odds 3.75)  Wrong 1-1

All games are being played this afternoon, the first two kick off at noon, the Italian one has a 2pm kick-off and QPR v Villa kicks off at 4pm. Total odds on all four correct are the rather delightful 64.05 times the tenner back. :D

Can you cover your bets as multiples? Most weeks you get 3 out of 5 (or better), so you'd get some money back instead of losing it all. Might be worth thinking about.
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Oct 04, 2011, 14:15
I can, yes. Instead of needing all five correct I could use a 2/5 or 3/5 system where I could have three or two games wrong and still win a lil' something on the other bets. But if I use the 2/5 system and still spend a tenner on the lot it will mean ten different bets with just one quid on each so the winning wouldn't be very high. I like the all or nothing approach, it's oddly appealing to me but I have thought about using a system instead, though, and may give it a go on Friday for the Internationals.
Title: Re: alex's bets

I guess you'd have to run it for a while. You're right that the bets will be smaller and winnings also smaller, but you'd have to work out if that's more a benefit in the long run than all or nothing. It might not be, but just a thought.  :P
Title: Re: alex's bets
Post by: alexander on Oct 07, 2011, 17:18
Righty, as a test-run I'm going to play a system for tonight and my next two slips, too. Using the 3/5 system (ten different treble combinations chosing five games):

*  Win for Denmark away at Cypres by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.10)  Correct 1-4
*  Straight home win for Romania against Belarus  (odds 1.40)  Wrong 2-2
*  Home win or draw for Wales against Switzerland  (odds 1.87)  Correct 2-0
*  Greece v Croatia to end in a draw  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 2-0
*  and a home win or draw for Serbia against Italy  (odds 1.24)  Correct 1-1

The first two games have 7.30pm kick-offs, the other three all kick off at 7.45pm. All five are being played tonight.

Using the 3/5 system I need three games to be correct to win something and the more games correct the bigger the win. With there being ten different betting combinations and spending the usual tenner I'm placing one quid on each of the ten treble bets. If all five games are correct the total win will be £67.25.

If played as a normal straight five game slip the total odds would be 21.13 times the tenner back.

Well, with exactly three games right I only had one of the ten possible combinations right, of course, winning £4.86. Was a bit annoying, though, as Creece v Croatia was goal less till nineteen mins or so before time and Romania was ahead twice at home, too so for quite some time I had all five right. Mind, like you said mate, instead of losing a tenner I've now got a lil' bit of it back. :D

Second try of my little test-run using the 3/5 system:

*  Home win or draw for Denmark against Portugal  (odds 1.47)  Correct 2-1
*  Straight home win for the Republic of Ireland against Armenia  (odds 1.60)  Correct 2-1
*  Home win for Norway by two clear goals or more against Cypres  (odds 1.48)  Correct 3-1
*  Macedonia v Slovakia to end in a draw  (odds 3.10)  Correct 1-1
*  and a straight away win for Holland against Sweden  (odds 2.50)  Wrong 3-2

All five are being played tonight.

Using the 3/5 system I need three games to be correct to win something and the more games correct the bigger the win. With there being ten different betting combinations and spending the usual tenner I'm placing one quid on each of the ten treble bets. If all five games are correct the total win will be £77.32.

Getting four of the five games right last time using the 3/5 system meant I had four of the ten possible combined bets right, winning £24.85 in total. Third try of my little test-run using the 3/5 system looks like this:

*  Liverpool v Man Utd to end in a draw  (odds 3.20)  Correct 1-1
*  Home win for Man City by two clear goals or more against Villa  (odds 1.85)  Correct 4-1
*  Straight home win for QPR against Blackburn  (odds 1.70)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for Hartlepool against Wycombe  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 1-3
*  and a straight home win for Cambridge Utd against Alfreton Town  (odds 1.47)  Correct 3-0

All five are being played today. The first game is an early kick-off, the other four all kick off at 3pm.

Using the 3/5 system I need three games to be correct to win something and the more games correct the bigger the win. With there being ten different betting combinations and spending the usual tenner I'm placing one quid on each of the ten treble bets. If all five games are correct the total win will be £71.64.

If played as a normal straight five game slip the total odds would be 24.41 times the tenner back.

- - - -

Edit: I have also made a normal five game slip for today:

*  Home win for Man City by two clear goals or more against Villa  (odds 1.85)  Correct 4-1
*  Straight home win for QPR against Blackburn  (odds 1.70)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for the Boro against Millwall  (odds 1.50)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for Hartlepool against Wycombe  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 1-3
*  and a straight home win for Milton Keynes Dons against Bournemouth  (odds 1.55)  Wrong 2-2

All five games have 3pm kick-offs today and total odds on all five correct are 12.86 times the tenner back.

Three games right using the 3/5 system meant I had just one of the possible ten combined treble bets right last time, winning £8.70. Giving it another go using the same system, this is my slip for the week-end:

*  Straight home win for Cambridge Utd against Lincoln  (odds 1.60)  Correct 2-0
*  Sunderland to win or draw away at Bolton  (odds 1.59)  Correct 0-2
*  Straight home win for Newcastle Utd against Wigan  (odds 1.48)  Correct 1-0
*  Coventry v Burnley to end in a draw  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 1-2
*  and a straight win for Spurs away at Blackburn  (odds 1.75)  Correct 1-2

The first game is being played tonight. The next three all have 3pm kick-offs Saturday, while the last game kicks off Sunday afternoon.

Using the 3/5 system I need three games to be correct to win something and the more games correct the bigger the win. With there being ten different betting combinations and spending the usual tenner I'm placing one quid on each of the ten treble bets. If all five games are correct the total win will be £64.29.

If played as a normal straight five game slip the total odds would be 20.42 times the tenner back.

Four games right using the 3/5 system meant I had four of the possible ten combined treble bets right last time, winning £16.46. Going back to my standard five game straight slip this is my slip for the week-end ahead:

*  Home win for Man City against Wolves by three clear goals or more  (odds 2.10)  Wrong 3-1
*  Home win or draw for Sunderland against Villa  (odds 1.25)  Correct 2-2
*  Straight home win for Birmingham against Brighton  (odds 2.00)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for Southampton against the Boro  (odds 1.65)  Correct 3-0
*  and a straight home win for West Ham against Leicester  (odds 1.65)  Correct 3-2

All five games have 3pm kick-offs Saturday and total odds on all five correct are 14.29 times the tenner back.

Got a funky lil' slip on for today:

*  Straight away win for Chelsea against Rovers  (odds 1.35)  Correct 0-1
*  Straight home win for Liverpool against Swansea  (odds 1.23)  Wrong 0-0
*  West Brom not to score away at Arsenal  (odds 2.25)  Correct 3-0
*  Straight home win for Charlton against Preston  (odds 1.50)  Correct 5-2
*  Straight home win for Milton Keynes Dons against Rochdale  (odds 1.45)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for Sheffield Weds against Brentford  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for the Boro against Watford  (odds 1.48)  Correct 1-0
*  and a straight away win for Man City against QPR  (odds 1.25)  Correct 2-3

The first six games all have 3pm kick-offs, the last two kick off at 5.20 and 5.30pm. Total odds on all eight correct are 24.05 times the tenner back.

I'm a bit baffled by the odds on West Brom not to score at the Emirates. There was 1.50 on them scoring today but 2.25 on them not scoring. Am I missing something ?

I have a sneaky lil' double bet on today:

*  Spurs to beat Stoke away by exactly one goal  (odds 3.55)  Wrong 2-1
*  and for there to be eleven or more corners in our game against Rovers  (odds 1.67)  Wrong, just nine, all for S'land

Total odds on both correct are 5.92 times the tenner back. Not a whole lot but there are only two games in England on the betting sheet here and the Danish leagues are on a Winter break till March.

As part of the build-up to our game later on the PL channel is showing a thirty mins highlights from the same game of last season as we speak. Can't remember anything from that game.

Righty, time to catch up on this year. In 2011 the over-all winnings were £83.47, a bit down from 2010's £128.20. So here's for a better 2012.

Most of the games I've gone for this time are being played later today but with one game being played Sunday this counts as my first slip of 2012:

*  Home win for Manchester Utd against Blackburn by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.35)  Wrong 2-3
*  Straight home win for Sheff Utd against Hartlepool  (odds 1.40)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for Chelsea against Aston Villa  (odds 1.22)  Wrong 1-3
*  Norwich v Fulham to end in a draw  (odds 3.10)  Correct 1-1
*  and West Brom v Everton to end in a draw as well  (odds 3.10)  Wrong 0-1

The first two games both have noon kick offs Saturday. The next two both have 3pm kick-offs also Saturday while West Brom v Everton is a Sunday noon kick-off.  Total odds on all five correct are 22.15 times the tenner back.

Having the game wrong anyway near the end of the game I was actually hoping for Man Utd not get anything from the game. Bet wise it would've meant no difference if they got a draw or somehow won by the odd goal. But what an amazing result for Rovers, eh. The worst team by a mile in the league this year playing the Champions away and not only score three times but win it as well. You're right, that's what makes the game so special. And it's not even FA Cup third round till next week-end.

With Chelsea taking the lead and yet somehow also fail to win I ended up having the biggest two favourites on my lil' slip wrong.

Very poor day yesterday slip wise. Man City failed to win by enough goals against the second worst team in the league, Blackburn failed to beat a very poor and injury stricken Villa side and both Birmingham and Sheff United were two-nil up and still failed to get a simple home win between them.

So today I've gone for just three games, which in fairness have a rather decent combined odds if all correct:

*  Sunderland to get minimum a draw away at Newcastle  (odds 1.70)  Correct 1-1
*  Cardiff v West Ham to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 0-2
*  and Manchester United to win away at Spurs by exactly one goal  (odds 4.15)  Wrong 1-3

The first two games are early kick-offs with Spurs v Man Utd being played later. All three being played today and total odds on all three correct are 22.54 times the tenner back.

Don't seem to have much luck at the moment. Can't believe both West Ham and Huddersfield failed to win at home yesterday against teams so far down the table with very poor away form and with both home sides leading in their games, too. Am also somewhat annoyed that after having picked Cardiff to draw three games in a row and getting all three wrong I have now left them out of my slips for the last two games, which both have ended in draws. :(

Anyway, I've got a sneaky lil' slip on today as well. Hoping my run of potty luck could change:

*  Home win for Manchester United against West Brom by two clear goals or more  (odds 2.03)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight win for Manchester City away at Swansea  (odds 1.61)  Wrong 1-0
*  Straight home win for AC Milan against Lecce  (odds 1.20)  Correct 2-0
*  Home win for FC Copenhagen against SønderjydskE by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.92)  Correct 2-0
*  and Barcelona to win away at Racing Santander by three clear goals or more  (odds 2.02)  Wrong 0-2

The first three games all have 2pm kick-offs. The Danish game kicks off at 3pm and the Spanish game is a 5pm kick-off. All being played today and total odds on all five correct are 15.21 times the tenner back.

Today's slip:

*  Win or draw for Sunderland away at Everton  (odds 1.95)  Correct 1-1
*  Straight win for Reading away at Barnsley  (odds 1.90)  Correct 0-4
*  Straight home win for Birmingham against the Boro  (odds 1.90)  Correct 3-0
*  Straight home win for Ipswich against Peterborough  (odds 1.72)  Correct 3-2
*  Straight home win for Sheffield United against Tranmere  (odds 1.61)  Wrong 1-1 They were leading, too. :(
*  and a straight win for Manchester United away at Wolverhampton  (odds 1.33)  Correct 0-5

The first game is an early kick-off today, the next four all have 3pm kick-offs also today. Wolverhampton v Manchester United is an early Sunday kick-off. Total odds on all six correct are 26.43 times the tenner back.

Got a sneaky lil' slip on tonight:

*  Straight home win for Charlton against Yeovil Town  (odds 1.50)  Correct 3-0
*  Straight home win for MK Dons against Leyton Orient  (odds 1.48)  Correct 4-1
*  Straight home win for Sheffield Weds against Walsall  (odds 1.45)  Wrong 2-2
*  and a win or draw for Sunderland away at Rovers  (odds 1.57)  Wrong 2-0

The first four games all have 7.45 kick-offs. The last game kicks off at 8. All five being played tonight and total odds on all correct are 16.67 times the tenner back.

Right, with the potty luck I've had in 2012 so far I'm going back to playing the 2/5 system for a while as I need to get some positives down soon:

*  Straight home win for Man City against Chelsea  (odds 1.85)  Correct 2-1
*  Home win for Spurs against Stoke by exactly one goal  (odds 3.70)  Wrong 1-1
*  Straight home win for Cardiff against Coventry  (odds 1.52)  Wrong 2-2 Another injury time cock-up :x
*  Straight home win for Ipswich against Burnley  (odds 1.85)  Correct 1-0
*  and a straight win for Arsenal away at Everton  (odds 2.25)  Correct 0-1

The first four games have 7.45pm kick-offs with Everton v Arsenal kicking off at eight. All five being played tonight. Using the 2/5 system (where I need two games to be correct to win anything with ten possible combinations) the max win if all five games correct is £48.40. Using the usual tenner means one pound on each of the ten possible bets on the slip. Total odds on all five correct are 43.30. Am putting a sneaky fiver on that as well as a single five game bet.

Getting three games right last time meant I had three of the possible ten double bets right, winning £11.74. Almost enough to cover the fifteen quid I spent on the two slips, too.

Ah well. Using the same 2/5 system this time, this is my slip for today:

*  Home win for Arsenal against Aston Villa by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.90)  Correct 3-0
*  Home win for Liverpool against Wigan by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.82)  Wrong 1-2 :x
*  Straight home win for Norwich against Wolverhampton  (odds 1.72)  Correct 2-1
*  Straight home win for Southampton against Doncaster  (odds 1.30)  Correct 2-0
*  and a straight home win for Crawley Town against Rotherham  (odds 1.61)  Correct 3-0

Using the 2/5 system the max win this time if all five games correct is £27.73 with a pound on each ten bets. Total odds on all five correct are 12.44. Like last time I'm putting a fiver on that as well as a single five game bet.

All five games have 3pm kick-offs today.

Tell me about it. If I had stuck with just plain betting slips I would still be on a big, fat nil so far in 2012 on bets on here. If I had kicked off the year using the 2/5 system it wouldn't have been near as bad. Would still have been in minus, of course, but would've had some of the money back at least.

The four games right on my most recent slip won me £15.73 in total with six combined double bets right and having spent 15 quid on the two bets I ended up with a 73p winning over-all. Had Liverpool not let me down big time I would've won £152 instead. Ah well. At least I'm getting a little of it back now, eh.

The annoying thing on top of the Liverpool defeat is that I had a slip on with draws in Chelsea v Spurs and Brum v Cardiff plus a straight home win for the Lads on a four game slip. Only for Liverpool to let me down there, too. But luckily that one wasn't one of my Forum bets as that would've made the stats for 2012 so far even worse.

Am thinking of having a fresh go tomorrow night with the FA Cup replay but I haven't checked things yet so don't know what else would be on offer. Might end up having just a one game bet on the Lads.

Slip for today:

*  Straight home win for Cork City against Wexford  (odds 1.33)  Correct 5-1
*  Straight home win for Monaghan Utd against Fanad Utd  (odds 1.44)  Correct 2-1
*  Home win for Shelbourne against Mervue Utd by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.70)  Wrong 1-0
*  Home win for Manchester Utd against Fulham by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.95)  Wrong 1-0
*  and a straight home win for Sunderland against Everton  (odds 2.50)  Wrong 0-2

Using the 2/5 system the max win this time if all five games correct is £31.35 with a pound on each ten bets. Total odds on all five correct as a single bet are 15.59. A fiver on that, too

The first game is a 7.45pm kick-off, the others all have 8pm kick-offs. The first four being played tonight with Sunderland v Everton tomorrow. The first three are from the Irish League Cup.

Two games right using the 2/5 system gave just one of the possible ten double bets right, winning just £1.91. But back on the horse for tomorrow with this lil' slip:

*  Straight home win for Sheffield Weds against Preston  (odds 1.45)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight win for Arsenal away at QPR  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 2-1
*  Straight home win for Charlton against Leyton Orient  (odds 1.40)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight home win for Swindon against Bristol Rovers  (odds 1.40)  Wrong 0-0
*  and Wolverhampton v Bolton to end in a draw  (odds 3.30)  Wrong 2-3

Using the 2/5 system the max win this time if all five games correct is £32.12 with a pound on each ten bets. Total odds on all five correct as a single bet are exactly 15.00. A fiver on that, too.

The first game is an early kick-off with the other four games all kicking off at 3pm. All being played Saturday.

Having a proper bad spell so far in 2012. Like last time I only had two games right and using the 2/5 system that gave just one of the possible ten double bets right again, this time winning a mere £2.03. :(

Hoping to do better this week-end:

*  Straight home win for Southampton against Portsmouth  (odds 1.42)  Wrong 2-2
*  Straight home win for Liverpool against Aston Villa  (odds 1.43)  Wrong 1-1
*  Middlesbrough v Cardiff to draw  (odds 3.20)  Wrong 0-2
*  Straight home win for Birmingham against Crystal Palace  (odds 1.52)  Correct 3-1
*  and a straight home win for Sheffield Utd against Bournemouth  (odds 1.45)  Correct 2-1

Using the 2/5 system the max win this time if all five games correct is £31.28 with a pound on each ten bets. Total odds on all five correct as a single bet are 14.32. Considering the low odds on the home favourites that's not a bad total. A fiver on that, too.

Like last time the first game is an early kick-off with the other four games all kicking off at 3pm. All being played Saturday.

Fingers crossed.

Tell me about it. It's both annoying and a bit strange that big home favourites continue to mess things up week after week. Yet again I only managed to get two right and this time winning just £2.20.

I've got a five game slip on today but this time I've chosen five games with mostly pretty small odds just to see if that will be enough to turn things around a bit:

*  Straight home win for Brøndby against HB Køge  (odds 1.44)  Wrong 1-1
*  Sunderland to win or draw away at Everton  (odds 2.00)  Wrong 4-0
*  Straight home win for Spurs against Norwich  (odds 1.28)  Wrong 1-2
*  Straight home win for Charlton against Walsall  (odds 1.57)  Correct 1-0
*  and a straight home win for Swindon against Northampton  (odds 1.44)  Correct 1-0

With the odds being very low I'm not bothering with playing a system this time and have gone for one slip containing all five games. The first game is from the best Danish league and all five kick off at 3pm today. Total odds on all five correct are as low as 8.33 times the tenner back.

Title: Re: alex's bets

Well, I noticed the odds have gone up again on Man Utd winning the league after their defeat in the last round so it's tempting. :D

Been a busy day for me today and I didn't have time to place a standard Saturday slip but I've just sorted a late one out for tonight and tomorrow:

*  Home win for Bayern München against Mainz by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.75)  Wrong 0-0
*  Straight home win for Herning against Odense  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 1-2
*  Home win for Real Madrid against Sporting Gijon by three clear goals or more  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 3-1
*  Barcelona to win away at Levante by exactly two goals  (odds 3.95)  Wrong 1-2
*  and a home win for Manchester United against Aston Villa by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.58)  Correct 4-0

Going back to the 2/5 system with one pound on each ten possible double bet combinations the max possible win this time is £41.75. Total odds on all five played as a single five game slip are 27.95. A sneaky fiver on that as well.

The German game kicked off some fifteen minutes ago, the two Spanish ones are being played tonight with Man Utd v Villa being played tomorrow. Herning v Odense is from the Play-Offs in the Danish icehockey league and is being played tonight.

Well, if Arsenal don't finish third they only have themselves to blame. Diabolic defending and a ****eload of chances missed today. They can praise themselves lucky that van Persie hasn't been out with one of his usual injuries this season as without him they would be nowhere near the top three.

Anyway, somewhat annoyed getting the very first (and what I truly believed would be a fairly safe one) game wrong today I've made a second lil' slip. With a straight home win for MK Dons instead of the Arsenal failures:

*  Straight home win for Charlton Athl. against Hartlepool  (odds 1.57)  Correct 3-2
*  Straight home win for MK Dons against Walsall  (odds 1.53)  Wrong 0-1
*  Straight win for Sheffield Utd away at Exeter  (odds 1.53)  Wrong 2-2
*  Straight home win for Sheffield Weds against Wycombe  (odds 1.16)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight home win for Southend against Macclesfield  (odds 1.22)  Correct 2-0
*  Straight win for Spurs away at Villa  (odds 1.83)  Wrong 1-1
*  and a home win for Manchester Utd against Swansea by two clear goals or more  (odds 1.60)  Correct 2-0

The first five games kick off in fifteen minutes time with the remaining two still being played Sunday. Total odds on all seven correct are 15.22 times the tenner back. So pretty much the same as my first slip.

With the final round of the PL season not being played till Sunday I have a sneaky lil' slip on tonight as (hopefully) a nice warm-up for my Sunday slip:

*  Straight home win for Esbjerg against Randers  (odds 2.00)  Wrong 0-2
*  Straight home win for Viborg against Hobro  (odds 1.65)  Wrong 1-1
*  and a straight win for Reims away at Amiens  (odds 1.85)  Correct 0-2

The first game is about to kick-off at 5pm, the second game kicks off at 6pm both are from the Danish First Division. The last game is from the French Second Division and kicks off at 7.30pm. All three being played tonight and if all correct the odds are 6.10 times the tenner back. Not the biggest odds in the world but as a warm-up slip it could perhaps set the week-end off nicely. :)

Ah yes, sorry. Didn't help my slip, though.

My slip for today:

*  Straight home win for Everton against S'Hampton  (odds 1.38)  Correct 3-1
*  Straight home win for the Lads against Wigan  (odds 2.00)  Correct 1-0
*  Straight home win for Bolton against Palace  (odds 1.60)  Wrong 0-1
*  and a straight home win for Hull against Peterborough  (odds 1.42)  Wrong 1-3

I had a look at all ten PL games this round and reckon there will be loads of goals and quite a few draws so leaving those out I came up with this lil' slip instead. Somewhat low odds, mind. All four being played this afternoon and total odds on all four correct are 6.27 times the tenner back.

Oddly enough the odds on a straight home win for the Lads have gone up from 1.90 to 2.00 since yesterday. Not sure why that is, are there any last minute injuries I haven't heard of for us to be less favourites ?

Bit late this year, not been well but footie is back so I'm going to give it another go:

* Home win for Arsenal by two clear goals or more against Villa  (odds 1.95)  Wrong 1-3
* Straight home win for the Lads against Fulham  (odds 2.20)  Wrong 0-1
* Straight win for Wigan away at Bournemouth  (odds 2.00)  Wrong 1-0
* Straight home win for Forest against Bolton  (odds 2.05)  Correct 3-0
* and a home win for Man City by two clear goals or more against Newcastle Utd  (odds 1.80)  Correct 4-0

The first four games all have 3pm kick-offs Saturday. The last game is a Monday evening kick-off. Odds on all five right are the rather handsome 31.66 times the fiver back.

I had a handicap win for Chelsea down first but for some reason I ticked 076 instead of 176 and ended up with Forest instead. When I found out it was too late to change the slip. No idea if they will beat Bolton or not but hey.
