General Discussions / Days out in Lancashire
« Last Post by Durham Forum on Jan 19, 2018, 20:12  »
Currently down in Lancashire for a few days. We’ve had a couple of days around Clitheroe (in an Airbnb cottage) and have now moved down to Bury where Mrs Durham Forum is going to a seminar tomorrow. We went to the legendary Bury Market today (big, diverse, but not that impressive). We’re in a Travelodge for a couple of nights. Not too bad, with a big room and a bath. Back to the snowy North East on Sunday. Very little snow down here.

Weather / Durham Weather Reports

I've finally got my new Durham weather station sorted out and delivering good data. It's a Netatmo model, which was good and robust without breaking the bank. I've got an internal module as well as an external rain gauge and temperature sensor.

Reports will appear on this thread

Not yet. Sunderland have told him he can go, but there’ll be no pay off. If Rodwell wants to sit tight he’d be perfectly entitled to do that. He’s not likely to get £70k a week anywhere else and he’ll know that. Not cut and dried by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s in the Northern Echo today. Councillor Clare is apparently unrepentant. What an arrogant man.  :wallbash:

Jokes and Humour / Laurel and Hardy
« Last Post by Legend on Jan 15, 2018, 18:17  »
Back on Tv  :D

Oliver Hardy: 'Didn't you once tell me that you had an uncle?'
Stan Laurel: 'Sure, I've got an uncle. Why?'
Oliver: 'Now we're getting somewhere. Is he living?'
Stanley: 'No. He fell through a trap door and broke his neck.'
Oliver: 'Was he building a house?'
Stanley: 'No, they were hanging him.'

County Durham Sport and Activities / SAFC: Rodwell contract cancelled ?
« Last Post by Legend on Jan 15, 2018, 14:24  »
£70k per week and he’s started once in a winning side since he came. Cancelling his contract will save around £5.25m on the time he has left in wages alone. We can’t afford him in the current climate. Well done Coleman

County Durham Business and Employment / Carillion going bust
« Last Post by Legend on Jan 15, 2018, 14:19  »
This is a disgrace really. The company has some of Britain’s biggest infrastructure contracts, thousands of employees and a pension deficit of several hundred million pounds and yet can still pay dividends and directors bonuses. DCC alone has £360m of contracts with Carillion, who are their exclusive civil engineering contractor. They’ve put all their eggs in one basket again. When will they ever learn?
