I pass  PORT CLARENCE    haverton hill  many times a week,   and  you do notice the for sale sign  and often wondered how much to live on that estate

I bet its a pleasant estate  with not much going on

I do miss the  20ft boat that was in someones garden,     but the BLACK caravan  makes up for it

kids dont have bikes they have  ponies or horses to get around on

Anyway   found the price tonight from Robinsons

3 bed semi    £9000         must be worth a look ?

Hope the link works

I think this is next door to the fire damaged property  with green steel windows and no roof        :@)

Hmm i investigated that house and that exact street wanna know why its going for £9,000

The Neighbourhood that house is in has  high levels of violance crime

Offence     Locally     Per 1000 Population
Locally    Nationally
Robbery    117    0.6    1.1
Theft of a motor vehicle    465    2.4    2.7
Theft from a motor vehicle    845    4.5    6.9
Sexual offences    189    1.0    0.9
Violence against the person    3,452    18.2    16.2

3,452 thats an awful lot for one neighbourhood

And the area that it is in is at a high risk of floods and There is a moderate potential risk of foundation damage to domestic properties from subsidence hazards within the neighbourhood of postcode TS2 1SL.Risk to the environment in the postcode of TS2 1SL from industrial pollution may be present from a number of sources. This was rated high so theres way to much polution over there.

Homecheck is a public access website and all information has been freely submited for the public to see.

http://www.homecheck.co.uk/NeighbourhoodSummary.do?postcode=TS2%201SL

Add to that the missing windows thats why its going for £9,000 all this can effect a houses value

The link i provided is proof of this. I run checks on houses as a hobbie and love it

Theres an awful lot of Refuse and Recycling facilities near that house hmmmmmmm :(

CLANSMAN's post clearly whooshed straight over your head.

Port Clarence/Haverton Hill is well known as a run down, deprived, antisocial area of the North East.

The post was in jest.

Gaz,

I think you should go and have a look for yourself ....   but take a friend or two as the residents dont like strangers

I think if you had nine thousand to spend ,  I think you would need another couple for insurance ( if your lucky)

Nice   shop,  post office , and the  fish shop    "THE BATTERED COD"

Have you done your google earth thing on it ?

I'd suggest you go down in a dark evening wearing a newcastle / sunderland top and if you survive...buy it!

actually (I'm from the toon) - before I moved to murton (around 1999) I didn't have a clue what to expect and I saw a flat I was interested in...so, I was walking back to the bus stop (sunday afternoon?) and I saw a group of about 8-10 teenagers on a street corner so I decided instead of walking around them - I'd walk straight through them...

I needed to know what kind of neighbourhood I was going to be moving into! and they all stepped out of my way... :D

had I of done that in some parts of the toon (or indeed any NE city) I wouldn't have made to the otherside without a few fists  coming my way...!

as it turns out it was  a  friendly place... :)

I would not make comments     until I have seen it

bit like trying on  a pair of shoes  before buying them

I think the place has its own character

I cannot compare it to anywhere else  ....     I thought, tried, and failed

Even thought of suggesting Eldon 30 years ago...      but   could not     (  Mad Mel ??   he will be long gone now ?)
