This is true, the standard of PC builds is increasing, but the pressure to produce at minimum cost will always result in cheaper components being used. Windows 7 copes much better than XP, but it's still difficult trying to cope with all flavours/combinations of hardware when the hardware source is unpredictable and uncontrolled by the OS vendor.

Was thinking of treating myself to a imac as the prices have dropped into my budget

Iphone user  Ipad user thought it would be the next step as my laptop is 3 years old now  battery u/s

Think I might wait till Windows 8 appears

and spend £19 on a new battery !!   £154 last time I checked    PC cost £279 new (ex argos return 50% off)

suppose if it aint broke ?  dont waste money
