A plus side to all this upheaval is it only took me a few minutes to get out of the thinford inn road in rush hour yesterday. usually 20 mins plus

The Thinford Inn is in the business section of the Northern Echo today as up for sale with an "Open to Offers" price on the seller agents website.

Someone could open it as a hotel to cater for motorists who cannot get off the roundabout :>)

I hope it is not long before they review the lights timing and road layout on this roundabout.

Travelling back from work last week and it let 4 vehicles at a time through from Durham way heading south towards Ferryhill, then let around 30 or more to come around the roundabout, sitting for while on green for them when there waas nothing coming around from Spenny way or turning right from Ferryhill, before letting another 4 vehicles through from Durham way. It took 4 lights changes before getting through them.

Also they have 2 lanes heading north from the roundabout restricting those heading south onto the roundabout only 1 lane until you get close up to it which then turns into 4 lanes, why not have one lane off the roundabout and two lanes from Durham onto it splitting into four. It means there is long queues of traffic, some wanting to turn right but cannot get into their empty lanes because of the traffic coming the other way.

Roadworks for flagship Durham Gate scheme £5m over budget (From The Northern

Well what do you know, a little over budget and time ... would never have guessed.

I like the last bit on there

"There has been some interest from businesses in moving onto the site but, in the current economic climate, it is thought it could be ten years before the development is fully occupied. "

The way it is going it will be 10 years before they get another company to join Livin there, never mind filling the site.

What a surprise? According to my ISP Provider most of the problems Hett village is having with Broadband access is as a result of the Coach and Horses Roundabout construction. Apparently, they stretched the cable which is worse than an actual break. Thanks guys for a job well done. :)

After nearly 2 years, the road from the Thinford roundabout into Durhamgate through to Enterprise Way is due to open tomorrow! Let us see if it helps the traffic flow now.  :? :?

Still not open, they have re-surfaced yesterday but no action. It was the workmen who told me it was meant to be open today, more delays again.

It takes you into Enterprise Way on the industrial estate and to The Fox Cub and Green lane.

Ah, so there's no need to turn left to Spennymoor then double back at the first roundabout to get to the pub? That'll please the manager :-)

We now learn that Northern Gas Works are going to dig up/restrict parts of the new roundabout to renew old gas pipes, starting 19th July for 6 weeks. The work will close the road between Thinford and Metal Bridge, causing diversion of traffic through Ferryhill and down Wood Lane to access the Bowburn motorway junction.
