Digital Switch Over
« on: Sep 09, 2012, 13:59 »
Hi! All
Just a reminder that the Digital Switch Over begins this week on Wednesday 12th September 2012, it will be done in two stages completing on Wednesday September 26th 2012:

Stage 1: At Midnight Tuesday/Wednesday - The BBC 2 analogue signal will be turned off meaning for any of you who have still not got Digital you will find you have no BBC 2 on Wednesday, as for us who have already have Digital we will have to retune our Freeview equipment[TVs, Settop boxes etc] when we wake up on Wednesday morning, Satelite and Cable will not be affected.

One extra thing to remember is that for those who have not changed and will still not have changed then on Wednesday you will have to retune your analogue equipment[TVs and Recorders], otherwise you will find that BBC 1 will appear on button 2.

Stage 2: At Midnight Tuesday/Wednesday 26th September 2012 - Again for those of you who still have not made the switch you will lose analogue BBC 1, ITV 1, Channel 4 and Channel 5.  For those of us who have made the switch then we will again need to retune our equipment when we wake up on Wednesday morning 26th September.

Complications: For those of you who use an aerial booster to amplify your signals you might find you have problems with your Freeview signal or have no signal at all, this is because at switch over the signals of Freeview are increased from the transmitter meaning that using an aerial booster could result in an overload of the signal.

So if you do use an aerial booster and find you have problems then try plugging in the aerial without the booster.

Good Luck all.

One more thing and if I am right in thinking then when we do switch on Wednesday 12th September we should then be able to recieve the new channel from Channel 4[4Seven], which we can not at the moment.

Some newer tvs actually have warning messages on screen saying you might have to retune after a certain date...over my head though!
