There is a potential for severe weather this coming weekend, as warm air tries to push across the country from the SW. There is a high probability that the Atlantic front may stall, straddling the UK in a NW-SE direction, with heavy snow ahead. Everything NE of the front would be in strong SE winds, with the warm air riding up over the established cold air at ground level. This could produce large quantities of snow, with hazardous conditions over a large area. This needs watching, as conditions could become severe over higher ground in the Northern half of the UK, and at lower levels too.

mm didn't have much on this weekend, was temped to go to beamish (music fest not the museum) but not worth the hassle if it snows.
