Are you familiar with the area at all? There's a little bit of information here about the housing when Chilton Colliery was opened : http://www.durham-miner.org.uk/miner/projects.nsf/0/897a35c36c30420880256e8b0049bd1d?OpenDocument

Chris, have you got anything in your archive?

I remember Cross Row,going from the station to the The Crag,Cross row used to be on the left just before the built-up part of the Crag.Cross Row used to run end on to the road, hence the name. I think it was pulled down in the1950s when I lived there.(Any Help)? :)

My Great Great Grandparents used to live in Third Cross Row,I remember one of  the rows still standing in the early fifties,or it could have been the late forties, but was pulled down when I was a child. Please look at my last post to bossman on this subject. it may give you an idea where the Cross Rows were.If I can find an old map I will mark it on for you. :)

Here we are,just found one.
Now my markings on this map are not to any scale, but it may give you an idea of where the houses stood. As I said my Great Great Grandparents lived in Third Cross Row until the early 1920 and they were very old people then.I hope this is of some help

Just spotted this thread - Cross Rows were indeed located where the map posted here shows them. They must have been there until about the 1950s as my girlfriend's Dad used to live there when he was a lad.
