I cannot understand why DCC closed The DLI Museum especially this year while commemorating the Somme, the museum was popular during school holidays and was in lovely grounds where families could sit and relax, its an utter disgrace as some of those brave men had their ashes scattered over the grounds, DCC should hang their heads in shame x

Quite agree, time to vote differently in 2017, vote for councillors who actually care about our county and our heritage.

It's pretty crap that they choose to do it on 100th anniversary of the Somme. Then spend a fortune publicising an exhibition at the Uni library. How do we see the collection now?

You have to ring up to make an appointment to view the artefacts which are at Seven Hills in Spennymoor. You have to tell them what you want to view, you can't just browse, but according to a FOI there's nothing there anyway ????

What's happened to all the stuff then? Last time I went to the DLI there were thousands of medals and lots of other things. Presumably there must be a catalogue of everything? People donated their family medals to the museum to be displayed. Do they get them back now?
