40 Points
« on: Jan 19, 2009, 12:55 »
Been thinking... If we need 40 points to stay in the Premiership then at the beginning of the season with 38 games to be played we needed 1.05 points per game to reach the 40 points total come May. After 22 played games we have 23 points which is 1.04 points per game on average. And with 16 games left to play and 17 points still needed we need 1.06 points from every one of our remaining games on average. So basically the numbers are exactly the same as they were when the season kicked-off back in August. How odd is that ? And to make it even more odd the exact same figures apply to Newcastle Utd, too

You're born alone, you die alone.  Anything in between is make believe.

It's still close isn't it? Any team that strings a good run of 2-3 wins together can see themselves relatively safe. A win against Stoke will leave us on 30 points with 13 games left - a position that we should be capable of ensuring safety from.

I hope this isn't a jinx.

All part of being a Sunderland supporter for too many years.
