Hanging Baskets
« on: May 04, 2006, 06:59 »
We put up our baskets yesterday but other folks have been saying that they think it's still a bit early and are going to leave theirs a fortnight or so.

Do you reckon it's still a bit early?  8)

I put up a basket on my balcony as well as planted some of the pots in Easter and they're doing ever so well. So no, I don't reckon you're too early, pumpkin, not at all. And if you guys are having the same luvly, warm weather they say we're gonna have the next four days as well with temperatures around 23C then you should be fine, am sure.

I've put mine up too.

Just make sure that the plants are hardened off before you put them out and watch the forcast for ground frost. If you think it's going to be cold then get a large binbag to enclose the basket overnight then remove the wrap the following morning. The plants will be fine and 2 weeks further on than your neighbours.

It's ok to hang your baskets outside from end April to End of may.... BUT.!. Keep an eye out for the weather forcasts and if it is reported to be a rather cold to freezing temperatures then do your baskets a favour and bring them in for the night. The next day hang them back out after around 11am no matter the weather and bring them back in if frost approaches around 5/6pm.
