Rain, Rain, Rain
« on: May 17, 2007, 07:25 »
In the last 24 hours here we've had the same amount of rainfall as in a normal month of May in total. It's stopped raining this morning, but it's said to return overnight. Is the weather back in the NE as wet as it is here at the moment ?

No, it's rained a bit, but nowhere near as wet as some other parts of the uk (that's pretty normal, we're in a 'rain shadow' from the Pennine mountains). Currently less than an inch has dropped on my rain gauge this month so far.

I quite like rain but the amount we've had here in the last 24 hours is just ridiculous. First the farmers cried that the weather was too warm and that they needed rain for their crops not to go to waste and now they are crying for drier and warmer weather again, all within days. There's just no pleasing some people.

sorry folks - but I put my hanging baskets up at the weekend and the current damp spell has meant that I haven't needed to go and water them yet.

Is the forecast for the weekend still good as I need to mow the lawn

Saturday - Sunshine and scattered showers. Cooler with a strong SW wind.
Sunday - Wind easing. Rain in the afternoon then clearing from the West.

Today's weather here has been rather fine, mild and sunny with the odd fluffy clouds but tomorrow they are predicting a right downpour. Am gonna have to take my delicate chili peppars inside before I go to bed, I reckon. They don't do biblical rainfall too well. Then it's said to clear up come Monday but will return Tuesday with even more rain :?

We could do with a bit of rain because it is 9 pm here and the bbq is still burning and i have just come into the house for some more factor 30 and a cold beer! when will this summer end?
I`m sure I just seen a gheko running up the garden wall ` thats the only problem here with all the sun we get we are infested with all kinds of creatures but I love it and would not live anywhere else.
